Description

Fishing.png
Fishing is a useful skill to use when catching fish in the water. You can easily start fishing with Fishing Rod and Bait, but you need more than that to fish even better. You must know how to adequately attach the Bait, have the judgment to choose a good place, and have the patience to wait until a fish is caught once all the preparations is done. Once fish is caught, you must control the single fishing line and quickly snatch it up as the fish will challenge you with its strength. This is why many people refer to experienced fishermen as the masters of life.

Details

Player using Fishing Skill
  • Requires a fishing tool and fishing bait equipped in order to use.
    • Every attempt to pull out a hooked item will use 1 bait.
  • Allows the player to fish at most bodies of water for items. For a list of items by location, see Fished Items List. For a list of all fish by location, see Fish List.
  • Higher ranks of this skill decreases the time in-between catches, increases the auto-fishing success percentage, and increases the chance to catch larger-sized fish.
    • Fishing has no effect on the type of item acquired.
    • Rank F Fishing is required to fish at Reus River.
  • If the player's inventory is full while fishing, any item received will not go to the temporary and, instead, will immediately drop to the ground.
    • Dropped items from fishing will not be able to be picked up by anyone except the person who fished them.
    • Dropped items from fishing will eventually disappear at a rate based on their resell value, with low-value items disappearing in a short time and expensive items taking longer to disappear.
      • If you plan to fish idle for a long period of time, be sure to check back occasionally in case you have fished up something or else it will disappear.
  • Most equipment fished up will have 0 durability, but can be repaired.
    • This does not necessarily apply to event items obtained through fishing.
    • This does not apply to equipment that are irreparable, such as a Gargoyle Sword.
  • You may not move while loading this skill, and you may not load this skill while standing on top of someone who is using this skill.

How to Fish

Fishing Mode
Fishing small hook.png
Fishing normal hook.png
  • With a fishing tool and fishing bait equipped, use the skill and then click on water nearby to enter fishing mode.
    • As the player's cursor hovers over the water, it will change to an arrow along with a circles. A blank circle indicates the area that can be fished in, but a circle with an X indicates that the area is not fishable. The cursor only changes if the body of water is a fishable zone.
  • While fishing, the character will stay locked in position until the skill is manually canceled by the player, automatically canceled when the player runs out of bait, their fishing tool loses all its durability, or if the player is attacked.
  • Periodically, the bait will bob in the water and a notice will pop on the screen saying there is something on the hook, as shown in the picture on the left. The notices will give a hint as to the size of the catch: Small, Medium, or Big.
    • If it says the catch is Small or Big, it will always be a fish. If it says "Something is caught on the hook..", it will be an item or an occasional medium-sized fish.
  • The player is then given the option to manually catch the item or to have the game auto-fish.
    • Auto-fishing begins if the player takes no action and the timer runs out. The catch is left entirely to chance.
    • If the player tries to catch the item manually, a mini game will occur.
Fishing Mini Game
  • The mini game screen is shown to the left.
  • The mini game immediately starts when the player tries to manually catch the hooked item.
  • Using the mouse, the goal of this mini-game is to keep the fish inside the red box as much as possible within the 10 second time limit (indicated by a meter at the bottom of the window) as the fish tries to escape the hook.
  • Every time the fish leaves the red box, the risk bar (shown at the top) will increase. At first, the risk bar will fill green, but if the fish continues to leave the red box constantly, the risk bar will turn red. Once the risk bar is completely filled, the catch will fail.
  • Tip: Try to keep the fish's tail center to the closest side the tail is facing the box so that you can easily shift your mouse depending on how it moves.
  • Tip: Instead of putting all of your focus on the fish, try focusing on your fishing line. As shown in the picture, the fishing line matches up with the box (when the fish is in the middle). Try to keep it just outside the box so that the fish it at the bottom of the box.
Successfully caught fish!Fishing Item Caught Message.png
  • After a successful catch, a random item from the fishing list is rewarded. A fished up fish appears as the type of fish caught while other items and equipment appears as boxes.
  • If the player fails the catch, their character will fall backwards, then get back up and start to fish again.
Fishing Attack Strike.png
  • When a player succeeds in catching a monster spawn while fishing at the Beach of Scathach, a group of two to ten River Sahagin Rangers and River Sahagin Fighters or Sea Trolls and Giant Sea Trolls will spawn and may attack.
  • River Sahagins spawn at the north fishing area, and Sea Trolls spawn at the south fishing area.
  • Considering these monsters are very powerful, it is extremely risky to fish idle.
  • The spawned monsters will eventually despawn on their own if not killed.
  • You cannot catch 2 spawns of monsters within an 80 meter or 8,000 radius. Catching a second spawn will instead cancel fishing due to "noise" or "uneasiness."
    • If you move out of the range of a spawn, you may continue fishing without the skill canceling when you catch another spawn.
    • It is possible to spawn more than one set of monsters at a time within an 8,000 radius if someone else catches a monster spawn.
