Description

A Paladin's Armor

The Paladin, also known as the Knight of Light, is an incarnation of a warrior of light that has been blessed by the spirits. Faithful to Morrighan, Paladins were created to protect the happiness of others and establish order within Erinn. One of the famous Paladins was known as Lugh Lavada. In Emain Macha, several warriors strive and train to become Paladins, however these are not "True" Paladins and are simply regular knights following the Paladin's oath. Some Humans and Paladins, however, lost faith in Morrighan and became Dark Knights. The Paladins are also described in the Book of Paladin.

The ability to transform into a Paladin is granted to the player after the completion of the Generation 2 scenario.

Warning: If the player chooses to convert to a Dark Knight, it is impossible to switch back to a Paladin. Once the conversion is made, all Paladin Skills and Ranks will be converted into the corresponding Dark Knight Skills: Spirit of Order is converted to Soul of Chaos, Power of Order is converted to Body of Chaos, Eye of Order is converted to Hands of Chaos, Sword of Order is converted to Mind of Chaos, Paladin Heavy Stander is converted to Dark Heavy Stander, Paladin Natural Shield is converted to Dark Natural Shield, and Paladin Mana Deflector is converted to Dark Mana Deflector.

Details

  • The Paladin transformation time varies with age and number of rebirths. It lasts approximately 2.5 hours of in-game time to begin with, and can be only used once per "day." The transformation counter resets at 6:00 A.M.
    • The Higher Age decreases the time (-2 seconds per year). More rebirths increases the time (+7 seconds per rebirth, up to the max of 6 minutes).
      • After 25 rebirths, each subsequent rebirth will only add 1 second to the transformation time (past 6 minutes)
    • Does not decrease after Age 25.
  • Paladin status bonuses are added on top of the player's base stats. Titles equipped prior to transformation will not take effect while transformed.
  • It is not possible to gain any of the accomplishment titles that involve stats while transformed (e.g. The Strong - 200+ Str, The Skillful - 200+ Dex).
  • The player can cancel the transformation at any time by using the Spirit of Order skill.
  • Transforming effectively restores some of your HP, Mana, Stamina, Hunger, and Wounds.
    • Your current value for each is added to whatever is added to the max, causing 100/200 to become 400/500 (+300). When de-transforming, you retain your ratio instead (400/500 becomes 160/200 for a total gain of 60 before and after using the skill).
  • Transformation will be canceled upon death; the player will have to wait until the timer resets to use the skill again.
  • It is possible to transform while a skill is active, but not when it's loading.
  • Transformation Mastery may not be used while transformed.
  • It is impossible to un-train Paladin-based skills, even with skill reset capsules.
  • Players who are transformed into Paladins are not allowed to enter Black Orb, Pendant of the Goddess, Mythril Mine, and most Generation 1 dungeons. Furthermore, they will not be allowed to transform while inside those dungeons.
    • On the other hand, transformed players cannot enter the Wizard's Note dungeon, but may transform while inside.
  • Paladins bear different Two-Handed Sword animations than that of a Human.
  • Paladin's Resting animation is altered when equipped with a Two-Handed Sword.
  • If you happen to be transformed into a Paladin when you rank Spirit of Order through a form change threshold (e.g., Rank 6 to Rank 5), your form will actually change while you are transformed. The transform timer will not reset however.
  • There are several pets that will transform with you as a Paladin. They are the Borzoi, Greyhound, and the Siberian Husky.
    • The pets will share the same skills and the same ranks as their masters. For example, if the master has Rank 5 Power of Order, then the pet will also have Rank 5 Power of Order.
      • Unlike the master, the pet does not have a Transformation tab.
    • It is not possible to transform while playing as the pet.
  • Paladins are the only transformations that do not have Active abilities to use.
    • They also do not provide an Intelligence or Critical Bonus like other transformations. However, they are the only transformation that increases Defense.

Ranking Skills

For ranking Paladin skills, you must use points gained from leveling. Each level gives the player 10 points, which can either be kept in Spirit of Order for advancement, or distributed to any of the other skills. At rank F, each skill requires 100 points (10 levels) to rank. At rank E, they require 110, and so on.

  • Note: When distributing points to skills, they are taken away from Spirit of Order, and cannot be taken back from the skill they are sent to.

  • This table is assuming all transformation skills are at rank 1.
  • The values listed directly comes from the skills themselves and do not include the bonuses gained from the Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity, Will, and Luck stats gained from the skills.
  • Blue indicates the highest in comparison to the other transformations, red indicates the lowest.

Appearance

  • Color-specific areas on the Paladin are determined by the color of robe the player is wearing. Otherwise, the color is that of your name. Sometimes, if the player is not wearing a robe, the color-specific areas will be that of the player's clothing color.
  • The appearance changes based on the rank of Spirit of Order.

Trivia

  • Paladins are the only Transformation that lack a unique Active Skill.
  • Paladins are the only Transformation that receives a bonus to Defense, Magic Defense, and Magic Protection.
  • Paladins are the only Transformation that do not receive a bonus to Intelligence and Critical.
  • While in Paladin Transformation all Knuckles will be invisible.
    • This is due to the fact that the "Paladin-Only Armors" gained in Transformation take precedence over all clothing and because of the fact that Knuckles function as gloves and weapons simultaneously.
    • Though invisible, the Knuckles still function normally.
  • Lugh Lavada appeared once as a transparent Holy Knight during Generation 2 and again as a white-winged Champion during Generation 9.
  • Dark Knight Humans redoing Generation 2: Paladin will temporarily revert to Paladin during the fight with Tabhartas.
