Launches a wall of flames from the Cylinder using Fire Crystals. The flames last for a short time, but long enough to hit nearby enemies multiple times. You can load up to 5 crystals at a time, which can be fired all at once if necessary. Damage increases with a higher average of your Max HP, Max MP, and Max Stamina. (Material: 1 Fire Crystal)

Details

Flame Burst on a Gray Fox.
  • Throws a continuous stream of flame at a target.
  • Flame Burst may be canceled manually at any time during its animation
    • Attempting to load other skills will not cause Flame Burst to cancel.
  • Players may not manually select a target with their pet during Flame Burst.
  • Flame Burst has a long but narrow area of effect.
    • Enemies entering the hitbox of Flame Burst will only be damaged and stunned if they are within its radius during a damage tick.
  • Using a Fire Cylinder, Volcano Cylinder, or a Demonic Hellfire Cylinder will increase the damage of Flame Burst by 15%, 30%, or 36% respectively.
    • In addition, using a Cressida Set or Flamerider Set with at least 10 points in Flame Burst Enhancement will increase damage by 15%, stacking with Cylinder bonus.
  • Flame Burst ignores the target's Protection when calculating critical rate.
  • Damage of Flame Burst is only affected by Enchants, Fire Alchemy, Alchemy Mastery, amount of charges, and high Health, Mana, and Stamina.
    • 8% of an average of Maximum Health, Mana, and Stamina is added onto Flame Burst's base damage. For example, if the user has an average of 100, an additional 8 damage is added to this skill.
    • This only adds bonus damage up to 2500, or 200 additional base damage.
  • The damage of Flame Burst is per hit as well as per charge. As a result, Flame Burst is capable of very high total damage, despite its low base values.
  • This skill can be Auto Charged.
  • The number of hits are based off the Rank of the skill. Rank F to Rank E hits 3 times, Rank D to Rank 5 will hit 4 times, while Rank 4 and up hit 5 times.
    • When the duration of Flame Burst is less than one full second, the last hit will deal reduced proportionate damage.
    • The final hit of Flame Burst will knock enemies back.
    • All other hits will not increase the target's Knockdown Gauge, allowing them to be stun-locked for long periods of time.
  • Damage of each hit is multiplied by the number of charges. (I.e. 3 charges will cause each hit to do 3x damage).
  • Loses 1 charge when attacked, and all charges when knocked back.
    • Can be used even when stunned by an attack, as long as you have one charge remaining.
    • If the player is attacked while the skill is in progress, one charge will be lost, but the skill will not cancel.
  • As a Fire Element, Flame Burst's damage is shunted by Fire Shield.
  • Other enemies aside from the targeted enemy will not aggro when hit by this skill, however they may be set to Alert if their AI allows them to do so.
  • Flame Burst cannot target enemies through rank 5 or higher friendly Barrier Spikes.
    • The Barrier Spikes will be damaged, leaving enemies behind them unaffected.
  • It is possible to use the skill to attack enemies frozen by Ice Spear.
    • Other players will be able to attack the frozen target normally during this.
  • It will use crystals stored in the Extra Storage bag, even if you don't have service.
  • At rank 5, players may permanently stunlock a target by canceling before the last hit, punching the target, and immediately loading and executing another Flame Burst.
    • Players with virtually no latency may perform this starting at rank 9, however it is extremely difficult.
  • Only the initial burst will consume your cylinder's durability. The bursts afterward will not consume durability.
  • Can be cast without putting the player into Combat Mode.
    • This causes certain enemy AIs to fail to aggro the player, instead changing their AI to Alert.
  • Occasionally if the skill is used while the character is in a hit animation, the flame animation will wave through the air as the character's arm swings to maintain balance.
  • Canceling the skill right before a hit may reduce that damage to 1.

Skill Issues

  • A graphical glitch might result in a monster being hit less than the normal amount.
    • Example: Using Rank 1 Flame Burst on an enemy might only attack 3 times.
  • A monster can go through the fire if it is not hit by the first attack, allowing it to attack you even though other enemies are in the flame's effects.
    • Similarly, it is not wise to initiate Flame Burst on a downed monster, as the monster will be able to take action for a brief instant after getting hit, enough time to attack adjacent players or sometimes even escape the Flame Burst.
  • Using Flame Burst on enemies frozen with Ice Spear will cause a bug. The monster will remain frozen but the one who casted Ice Spear will be attacked by it. This is known as the "astral body bug" in foreign servers.
  • Other players may attack with no problem while Flame Burst is being executed, although be warned that the attacks can cause the monster to be knocked out of range.
  • Skills such as Smash will make the monster invulnerable to Flame Burst if the skill is being executed on the monster.
