Lance Charge makes the wielder dash fiercely towards the enemy with their lance extended. While charging towards the target, all the enemies in between are knocked back. Although it cannot be used on nearby enemies, it is very effective for both damage and positioning.

Details

Lance Charge as used on a mount against a Skeleton.
  • Requires a Lance equipped in order to use.
  • Rushes at the opponent at great speed using the lance to attack in a similar manner to Charge.
    • Unlike normal Charge, enemies in the path of Lance Charge will be hit.
      • However, enemies with "Finish" above them in Lance Charge's path will not be hit.
  • The distance between the player and the target affects the damage, calculated as: Skill Damage * [1 + (Distance / 1000)]
    • Generally, the further the distance, the greater the damage.
      • Due to minimum distance restrictions, the chosen target will always take at least 1.25 times the base damage of the skill, and up to 1.8~2 times the base damage depending on distance and rank, provided no distance increasing Reforges are used.
    • Unlike normal Charge, Lance Charge can be used while on certain mounts, further increasing the damage by 1.2x and also increases Lance Charge's maximum range and linear width.
  • The enemy is knocked down on impact, but the Knockdown Gauge does not fill, and thus not counted as a true knockdown. For instance, the player may not use Assault Slash as a follow-up attack.
    • The enemy is also stunned for 3 seconds and is unable to load skills or take any action whatsoever.
      • Enemies in Lance Charge's path are stunned for 2 seconds instead.
  • The entire skill and animation can be canceled by pressing the Cancel Skill Hotkey or the Press Esc to cancel skills option in the Options Dialog.
  • Like normal Charge, Lance Charge negates the stun and reduces the damage of Archery Skills.
    • Damage reduction is dependent on the player's normal Charge rank.
    • Blocking projectiles with this skill will count toward normal Charge's training requirements.
    • However, if the user takes enough damage to be put into Deadly, Lance Charge will be interrupted.
    • Any other type of attack will interrupt Lance Charge.
  • Movement Speed enhancements will cause the player to move much faster than normal during Charge.
  • Similar to normal Charge, Lance Charge is capable of homing in on moving enemies.
    • If the target moves outside of Lance Charge's range, the player will continue to run towards them, however the skill will cancel upon reaching the maximum range.
  • If the target becomes invincible as Lance Charge is in effect, then the player will stop in front of the target momentarily before Lance Charge cancels all together.
  • If Lance Charge is used against an enemy and it moves behind an object, such as Barrier Spikes, the player will become stuck by the object momentarily until the skill "reaches" maximum range.
  • The skill has a minimum range, meaning it cannot be used if the player is too close to the target.
    • If the target moves inside this range during Lance Charge, the skill will be canceled.
  • Players with high latency may stop in front of the target for a moment before striking.
  • Players with high latency and/or graphical lag may run back and forth near the target before striking.
    • This may cause the skill to cancel if the player moves more than the maximum range of the skill.
    • This can make it very difficult to use Lance Charge on mobile targets.
  • Lance Charge has all the properties of a Normal Attack being used against a target.
    • Against a Normal Attack, it can result in just the user, just the target, or both the user and the target being hit when used.
    • Counterattack, Lance Counter, and Chain: Counter Punch will activate against Lance Charge normally.
      • Lance Charge ignores these skills in its path, however.
    • Lance Charge intercepts an enemy's Smash attack.
    • Defense will activate against Lance Charge normally, even in the linear path, giving the target a chance to retaliate.
    • Melee Auto Defense, when triggered, will negate the knockback and stun, giving the target a chance to retaliate.
    • Advanced Heavy Stander will completely negate knockback and stun.
    • Windmill cannot normally stop Lance Charge, including Windmill-Counter.
      • Users who experience high latency may stop in front of their target before striking, allowing enough time for the target to use Windmill if it is currently loaded.
      • If the target uses Windmill on someone else while the charging player is inside Windmill's radius, they will be hit normally and Lance Charge will be stopped.
  • Players can use Play Dead right before the Charge impact to stop the skill altogether.
  • Lance Charge may not be loaded while the player is being pushed back.
  • Lance Charge ignores Protection when calculating Critical chance.
  • Lance Charge and normal Charge share a 10 second cooldown, starting when the player begins charging.
    • As a result, the player may not alternate between normal Charge and Lance Charge.
  • Elves cannot learn this skill, as they cannot equip Lances.

Skill Issues

  • Lance Charge may cause the character to enter a black void or run off the map, missing the target entirely.
  • When mounted on pets that are faster than Human/Giant running speed, there is a risk of running past the target then attacking it from behind.
  • When mounted on Horse Pets as a Giant, there is no pushback animation for the target when struck.

Training Method

Tips

  • Use Enthralling Performance and walk in a straight line to conveniently line-up enthralled enemies for easy training.
  • Except for Ranks 9 through 7, you will always have 100 points of training in one requirement in order to rank the skill.
