If the commerce reforge also modifies other lines, wouldn't it be better to have fewer lines to make it more likely to get the commerce speed then use a credne to get other lines or would the credne overwrite the commerce speed line?

Your logic seems completely backwards here. Each line is rolled separately for commerce speed, thus, more lines means greater likelihood of getting commerce speed. Also, all lines are rolled (as in, you lose the previous buffs) when using any reforges, crednes included.

The odd thing is, I've used 5 of these on a 3 line outfit, and the strangest thing happens. I've gotten Commerce Speed Reforge every time, even though it shows up on another line. It seems like it is ensured, almost 100%, but considering I only used 5...hard to say.

I'm still trying to figure out how reforges work. The pages about them aren't terribly clear.

To reforge something, a Reforging Tool is required. If you are not satisfied with a reforge, you are required to use a Fine, Credne's, or Commerce Reforging Tool, depending on what is needed.

Items that come reforged with a blank Rank 3 (from Spirit Weapon Reforging Glitch wayyyy back when the Reforging Tool was first released), 2, or 1, a Fine, Credne's, or Commerce Reforging Tool is required, since it was already pre-reforged (preforged?).

Fine and Credne's Reforging Tools can "rank up" the reforge to a higher level through a cutscene. If the rank is already 1, it may "critical" reforge with the same cutscene, giving much higher and stronger reforges. Credne's Reforging tools can also add more lines (Up to 3), up to 2 more if there is 1 line, or 1 more if 2 lines exists. Credne's randomly add lines, while still functioning as a Fine Reforge. Just use Credne's reforging tools if you need more lines, or use fine tools if you already reached the 3 line limit.

And if you want a commerce speed reforge, stop using fines once you're r1 with three lines, then use a commerce tool. Higher rank of reforge, higher max effect level possible.

You mean Credne's. Fines do not add lines.

Credne's until three lines. Fines until r1 if the item is not already r1. THEN Commerce, is what I meant.

So it's too pricey to have multiple commerce reforge tools to find the probability of getting a commerce reforge. But would there happen to be numbers that suggest that when using a commerce tool the likelihood of getting the commerce reforge rather than any other reforge is higher? Because with 63 occurrences of the word "Clothing" on the Reforging page, this would suggest (at most) a 1.6% chance of getting the desired reforge. It's rather disconcerting considering that even on rank 1 reforged clothing, one could end up with a level 1 commerce reforge and that prices are at 1M ea. on Tarlach server.

Theoretically speaking, yes it would be a 1.6% chance. But considering it is the only tool that can give the reforge, the chances are a bit a higher than 1.6%. I don't know how much the tool is on other servers, but alexina's hitting 1.5m on those :s

1.6%?? Is it really that low? I mean, I got one on my first try... And with the many other commerce reforges I've seen around... it seems a lot higher than 1.6% (yes, I'm aware that % is theoretical).

Well maybe "a bit higher" was the wrong choice of words...But yeah it's like, 25~40? maybe. I've asked a few and about 5/13 seems to have gotten the reforge.

So.. I've used at least.. 10 commerce reforging tools now... Every time, I've gotten a commerce speed reforge...

That's...strange. That would mean it would change other reforges and not the speed reforge. Odd.

The speed reforge does change levels o-o.

But I bet it never changed did it? The other 1 or two lines did but not the speed.

What I think she means is, if the middle line got the commerce reforge, the middle line was always a commerce reforge? Like, once you get it, 100% chance to get another commerce reforge?

Well, it does jump around to different lines. I.e., the first attempt, the reforge appears on the 1st line. The 2nd attempt, the reforge appears on the 2nd line, etcetcetc.

If you used a commerce tool and didn't receive a commerce speed boost reforge, is it possible to still receive that bonus through usage of Fine Reforge tools after using the commerce? (Same item of course.)

Commerce tools have the chance of giving commerce-only reforges, technically no. You'd have to use another commerce tool, not a fine one.

Due to the description on the Incomplete Commerce Reforging Tool, it may be that the text is correct and not not increase nor change the Rank and Number of "Lines" on the Item. However, I don't know exactly what it means by "stats" if it says that it does not change those.

"Your Crafting stats, rank and number won't change"

Two possibilities:

1. Typo. (Very probable)
2. It has some sort of secret effect that different from a normal reforge (Not so probable)
