Page Times

Do the pages only last for a certain amount of time? As in are the pages like fireball where the pages expire after a certain time or like thunder where the pages never "expire". --Sinnoaria 22:15, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

As far as I've seen, the pages do not have a time limit on them. None of the pages have time limits on them. This includes the pages for both books. -- Eiyuu 1:25 12, March 2009

Collection Order

Exploration

Several things I've read seem to indicate that exploration isn't really random, so I was wondering if someone could include a map or a description of the general area where people should search for book 1 pages 2 and 4, beyond the extremely general "Iria" which is there now--Jacobpaige 07:15, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

I've found pages 2 and 4 almost everywhere over Rano and Connous but the current exploration event is supposed to be messing with things so it remains to be seen whether or not they are found at specific areas.

Ice spear book 2 page 2

My friend said he found page 2 from exploration. I know there's no way he could have soloed rabbie adv, so I guess it must be true... right?

During the eploration event, people have said it is possible to find pages such as FB10, AR8 and IS 3, as well as other pages but I never received one of these pages from a chest so it is unconfirmed.

My guild leader claims to have found Ice Spear page 1 from a chest during the event, I don't see why she'd lie and how else she'd have found it given that she doesn't buy pages and hasn't completed the journal yet. As far as I know thouch, such pages are for this event only so explore while you can folks.

I'm sorry I don't have a screenshot to prove it, but I can confirm that I got AR10 from a treasure chest near the Flower mark in Rano during the event. So I'm sure it's possible to get other pages from that event. Just extremely rare. Montrios

Elf Ice Spear

I noticed that when using Ice Spear with my Elf, the total mana cost at rank F was 54 MP, as apposed to the 80 MP the chart had said (where each charge is 16 MP?). Is the rumor about Elf mana costs bring lower then human mana costs true then? --Dysprosium 16:13, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Mimics for Ice Spear

Currently the wiki only says "Mimics" and the Mimic page only has the specific "Mimic" as dropping Ice Spear page 3. However a guildy claims to have found one in Alby from an "Old Mimic" and though I may have been mixed up I think I got one earlier from a Great Mimic in Barri. Whilst it seems to be that none of the Irian Mimics (Sand, Stone, Ice etcetc) would drop IS pg3, which of the Uladh Mimics drop it? Or am I just mistaken and it really is only the specific "Mimic" that drops it?

I've ran Longa quite a few times for Final Shot (around 5), never seen a sand mimic drop it. on the other hand, page 3 is quite cheap -500 gold-, so buying it could be considered.

Removing Certain Contents

With the Exploration Event done and over, Page 2 and 4 of Exploraiton can only be found by L-Rods. Saying you can find Ice Spear Page 2 and 4 using L-rods should be changed and removed to discourage people from searching Iria for a page they will never find because someone found it during the chest event. --Miyuna

damage decrease

Nexon America's official ice spear guide says "The damages caused by the ice particles will decrease as the number of frozen enemies increase. Keep in mind that as the number of charges increase, however, the decrease in damage gets smaller as well. " about how ice spear chains to other enemies if something is killed, but it is not clear weather this refers to the exact number of enemies atacked before the chain, the number of enemies atacked after the chain, or the number of times it has chained already. What happens is, you attack a big mob of enemies with ice spear. What happens next is, monsters along the path get frozen, and then eventually the ice explodes dealing damage. If one of those mobs that got hurt dies, it re-freezes mobs around it (See explosion Radius) and then they explode and so on until no more mobs are in range. However, as the chain goes on and on, the damage it will do to mobs decreases. To be clear, it's refering to the explosion damage from chaining mobs by killing them and making them freeze other mobs. -ReibuOrumai 9:23PM PST

Only the glowing statues from Karu have PG.3 Please correct me if you really got the PG.3 from that glowing gargoyle in Maiz.

Ice Spear vs. Advanced Heavy Stander

Tested this on Carnivorous Plants, which have Advanced Heavy Stander but no Mana Deflector, and they do appear to be frozen normally. It appears that Adv. Heavy Stander doesn't ignore the freeze effect, which might be expected (the article only mentions Mana Deflector as stopping the freeze effect) though it does seem a bit opposite to the purpose of Adv. Heavy Stander, which would seem to block the freeze effect like knockback effects (i.e. the Ice Spear explosion, which does get negated).

What I'm not sure about is if this is important enough (more trivia than anything, given what little this is useful on) to warrant inclusion in this article, the Adv. Heavy Stander article, or both/neither. Thoughts? --Duet 00:42, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

there is no such thing as "advanced heavy stander" the monsters listed as having that "skill" simply lack the ability to be knocked back or down or to move that is all. their inability to be knocked back/down is completely unrelated to any PDs they may have.

since the plants cannot move, they are not knocked back/down by the explosion, but is still happens, still does damage, and still will chain to other targets if it dies, same with anything else listed as having.--Sozen Cratos Focker 04:14, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Exploration Journal, not Explorers Journals

I spent a good 5 minutes trying to find the item "Exploration Journal" on the wiki. Luckily I remembered it had something to do with a skill and wandered here. Ingame, the pages are called "Exploration Journal, Page X", and if I'm any indication of the average noob trying to find out what the heck the pages are for, it would probably be better to insert "Exploration Journal" somewhere on this page so it can be found easier. Mana Cost

I just ranked Ice Spear from r6 to r5 and noticed that the mana cost changed to 30, not 28 as listed on the chart. Can any other humans with r5~2 Ice Spear confirm how much each cast costs them? It'll be a while before I can rank mine again (darn AP cost!) so I'd like some input before I edit the chart. --Justified 01:55, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Well, the "event only" thing was really just an assumption to begin with. We never had any real reason to believe that the event changed anything besides the chests' respawn rates and the drop rates of Hooked Cutlass and Tricolor Robe. Of course, it would be harder to get the page from exploration now that the chests respawn slower, but the probability of getting if when you open a chest shouldn't have changed. From what I can tell from the description and whatnot in game Hailstorm is considered a Weather Magic or Catastrophic Magic type skill, though most Tier 2 spells are refered to by NPCs and books as "Intermediate" I think they used that as a linguistic tool to suggest that more spells might be released. If/When the other elements have a Tier 3 spell we'd be able to classify them, but as far as "official" classifications go, we just have General Skills (like Defence, counter, or evasion), Basic Skills (like smash, bolt magic, water cannon, or ranged), and Advanced/Special skills (like thunder, hailstorm, crash shot, Final Hit, and Shock). Not to question the Japanese wiki or something, but I have done like 30+ runs by now, and have yet to come by a IS2 page (I went onto my friend's elf and they all appear Normal to her). I am starting to think: A. Grumbils do not drop IS2 in the NA version; B. It is an EXTREMELY RARE drop; C. I am HORRIBLY unlucky :( --Marthian 22:18, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Do you have to do anything to get them to drop (like the Critical attacks on succubuses) or anything cuz I have been using melee and then range to take them down (on separate characters)? I've been looking around seeing people say that the freeze duration has been increased. I did a small test a bit ago and its coming up as exactly 5.5 seconds, a 2 second increase.

Anybody else able to confirm this so we can change it?

1. What happens if you try to Ice Spear an already frozen enemy? They still get frozen and take 4x less damage? Does their frozen state extend?
2. How does Flame Burst work now? Still does full damage or is the -50% affected by it?
3. Does the mob still take -50% less damage from all sources even if they aren't frozen (e.g. Mana Deflector)?
4. I heard giving a frozen mob i-frames (e.g. Smash) will still apply, thus making said mob unattackable until it defrosts?

1. You can't. it doesn't let you if they're truly frozen in place (i.e. no mana deflector)
2. -50% applies. on a side note, the things I tested on didn't live long enough for me to check to see if they still fight back when you use that combo.
3. no. at least not from magic.
4. unfortunately yes, although i'm not sure if it's smash's iframe duration or ice spear's.

I hit a Red Kobold and Giant Skeleton Hellhound with Ice Spear, they make a loud "ping" sound and don't freeze as if they have Mana Deflector (but still explode and take damage), they didn't have Defense loaded. However, anything else I hit them with (Icebolt, Lightning Bolt, Thunder) does not cause them to ping and does cause them to flinch.

How is it that they ping against Ice Spear but not against other magic spells? They both fall under Puppet's Unsnareable list, so is it possible that IS applies too?

That is pretty strange, but pretty much all of the monsters on the list are attacked just fine with ice spear. We might have to dig deeper to see for that one.

User:Blargel told me that the mobs in the list actually used to be completely untargetable in that list before it was changed to attackable but unfreezeable.

I'm a Giant and it costs me 13 mp per charge at Rn with no mana reduction. i can post a video as proof if you would like.

Ok, that makes sense then. the -2 mana I'm getting is from the construct alchy title.

Construct Alchemist Talent's Mana Reduction is a set effect. It only takes effect when you have 10 points+ , if it weren't glitched in the first place (it doesn't count towards the set).

The -2 mana is from some other source, whether it may be natural regeneration or something else.

Doesn't ice mastery only increase damage? Mine's only Rf in either case.

I just ranked ice spear to Rf and its only costing me 17 mp per charge. I took off all my equipment and tried it multiple times just to make sure. the only things i can think of that might be effecting it is either one of my skills or talent. Could there be some sort of mana reduction with the formor crown ice wand?

Could you time exactly how long it takes to load? Also, is this with or without the Nalge and MTU fixes?

That shouldn't be it though. The lag fixes would only remove/reduce the extra load time and MP usage caused by lag. The numbers in the chart were taken from the files, so they should be the base amount without lag(with lag fixes), so if the decrease in mp usage are more than what would be expected from MP regeneration and INT speed boosts, and you don't have anything else giving speed or MP reduction, that probably means our formula for the INT speed boost is off.

• The actual MP cost will vary between players depending on skills and lag.
• The MP cost listed is (hopefully) taken directly from the data.
• This has been known for years, and is not something to worry about.
