could someone upload screenshots of the new rest position u get at rank 9?

says that rank in is not implemented.-slayer1o1-

It be nice if someone took some pics off a KR or JP server board, even Chinese Board. I don't have a translator so i cant do that.

you shouldn't need a translator to take screen shots do you? i havent played any foerign versions so i dont know... dont even know where to get them slayer1o1 22:29, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
sigh..Fine.. ill get the pictures in a moment --Kevin (•Talk•) 22:33, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Alright, I'll add girl's in a moment :) Ty for the compliments ;D --Kevin (•Talk•) 03:31, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

I would also recommend all the pictures for each posture. It would be very nice if we and some more footage. ~ Shadowboy132

But there's two rank 9- positions for each gender (or maybe more).--♫ѕταя♪ 23:08, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Ok there was a discussion on my talk page about what rank the pictures were fore, someone wana verify that they are actually rank 9 before we change them? slayer1o1 23:11, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Also, why are there two Male Variant sitting postures and not one of a Female? ~ Shadowboy132

Skill Priority over Clothes? Or Vice Versa?

Is there only one female pose? If a female character has rest rank 9, can she also have a different robe position? Also, there's several different sitting poses depending on what clothes one wears, does the rank 9 sitting post supersede ALL of these other poses? Is there any way to keep these poses if one has rest rank 9? -- Ladywinter 10:22, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

I've spoken to a female character that has rest rank 9 and apparently for all the clothes she owns, rest rank 9 posture becomes it's default sitting pose. Can anyone else confirm for their clothes? -- Ladywinter 08:56, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Wound Recovery

Can somone change it from wound/second to how long 1 wound takes... Wuberfeca

Would you like to tell me how long it would take to heal 1 wound when it's .33 wounds per second? =\ --Kevin Talk«) 02:02, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

R1(?) Sitting Posture Image

Why was File:R9sitting2.png removed from the page? Should it go back? --Aramet (Talk) 20:24, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

I'll add r1 postures after the maint. ~kotarou3 TALKCONTRIBS 06:04, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Image Changing?

Why is everyone changing the rank 9 sitting picture? The original was fine, but every time I see the page someone is replacing someone else's picture. Can we keep it to just one please?

Images

There are 4 rank F poses in total, 2 for each gender. Should the images be updated? (Oh, it depends on current clothing. I think whether or not you have a robe on.)Novaix 07:31, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I think there's three rF poses for female, one with robes, one with most clothing, and one that only seems to occur on specific types of equipment; I know I've seen it with the Premium Newbie Wear (F) and the Valencia's Cross Line Plate Armor (F). (For really short skirts, maybe?) I'm not quite sure though, since the one currently up for female is the one I had assumed was for robes, so for women, it might not conform to any specific rules. --Duet 11:06, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Oh yes, I forgot that.Novaix 23:51, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Male characters also have 3 rest poses at rank F. If they wear the Premium Newbie Wear (F) they sit in the girl pose. AokiRyuuTheDark

Gender or Clothes?

Like so, some clothes that are "meant" for one gender, can be worn by both, like the premium/non-premium newbie wears (the regular ones). And so, like stated on the page, males can wear the female's newbie wear, and vice versa, therefore affecting the sitting position. And, clearly proven by the fact that there's 3 sitting positions for the same gender, I do believe that there's some kind of a pattern for the sitting position. For just about every robe (I havent tested this, and I'm referring to female humans, and maybe elves) it seems to be the third position shown, and all robes are like....long. o_o.... (screw trying to explain it, I'll just sum it up)
What I'm trying to get to here, is that I think the sitting positions are more affected by the clothes, and the style of clothes, rather than the gender.........(somehow I myself am not even seeing the point of this)--♫ѕταя♪ταιқ♪ 21:39, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

I actually equipped newbie wear F, and my rest posture was the same. Kinda a shame, to me. Novaix 06:26, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Transform sitting

Should the transform rest sitting position be added here? Bidica 22:13, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Theres 2 for pali (one for 2-h equips, and one for 1-h equips/dual wielding, I thinkg). iunno about dks. o-o If so, then should the glitch be mentioned? About how its possible to sit like a pali/dk when you untrans and have a pet trainer stick thing? o.o--Яειм 's Talk 23:50, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Anyone else notice if you are off the game window when you get out of trans, you stay in the same position, whether sitting or standing (Falcon) --Enteion 23:11, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
For me, it just changes sitting position to my default human sitting position. And DK has the same sitting pose w/ 2 hander and one hander + shield/duals, just with the 2 hander, they rest the blade on their lap and so the arms are slightly shifted back. --DarkWyvern 11:35, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Rank 7

According to the Japanese Wiki, the Rank 7 Rest Book comes from Alby Basic end chest. Apparently, there's a higher chance to get the book if you go with a party of 8, much like Karu's books. By the way, has anyone confirmed if Rank 7 is out yet? --ZephyreTALK 17:46, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Confirmed that the book is in fact dropped from Alby Basic. --ZephyreTALK 07:13, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Anybody happen to know if the book can also be found in Alby Basic Hardmode? Basic is just so boring...at least Hardmode gives out decent exp while I'm looking for the book, lol. --Qaccy 17:56, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Giant's Rest Change

Just to point it out, the new giant resting position carries over into your Beast transformation.

However, unequipping your clothing/armor or wearing certain clothing (Celtic Female for example) will cause you to sit in the original position. Doing this during transformation causes you to sit in the original "arms crossed" position, but will no longer cause you to sit the original non-transformation position if you have a sword + shield equipped. This is all from female perspective though, no idea if male giants got any of this change. Dx --Yotothe5 04:39, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Manus - Part-time job requirement

Re: "The player must have completed the Healer's Part-Time Job at least 3 times in order to receive the full training from Manus." I got the upgrade without doing his part-time job. He referred to me having prior experience - sorry, didn't note exact wording. Perhaps he accepts Part-time Jobs with any healer - I did Dylis' job at least 3 times. --Librarian 03:54, 16 December 2010 (PST)

ReRe: "The player must do any healr's part time job at least 3 times in order to gain rest exp points."-Storymusic

Confirmed. Took a new character to Manus without doing any healer jobs. Manus explicitly explains that any healer part-time jobs are acceptable. Will update page appropriately. --Librarian 06:20, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

The wiki says you need 0 Stamina to start the Rank 9 Rest quest, but that doesn't seem to be the case coz I just started it with just under 200 stamina? Might be worth checkin out

Summary Table Questionmark Entries

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could provide insight on this. There are three entries on the Summary table titled "?". The first entry has the value of 15000 at ranks F and E, the second has the value of 1000, and the third has the value of 10 at Rank 1. What do these entries indicate regarding the Rest skill, and why are they only described as "?"? It seems out of place, but if the values have a purpose I would like to understand that better or perhaps edit the article to be more descriptive of what those values mean.

ToasterWaffle (talk)04:02, 1 October 2020

The meaning of the data is not known but their values are. The 10 that appeared at Rank 1 is 100% related to Rank 1's ability to reduce potion poisoning but I wouldn't be able to tell you it that was -10 points per second or -10% per second etc. Someone would need to first uncover what that number meant. The other two I'm not sure about and with them only showing at rank N and F would be difficult to figure out.

Also, generally avoid removing something from a page while also asking about the thing you removed.

Lint (talk)17:49, 1 October 2020

Understandable, my apologies for the removal. I'll avoid doing such a thing in the future, my motivation for it came from the thought that a Wiki is a source of information, and thus unclear numbers describing a skill would cause confusion. Sort of like the page tells you useful information, and then says "Oh yeah, also, 15000. Just 15000." It felt like the entry caused more confusion than it did answer questions. However, I'll restate that I definitely understand better now the position that entries like that are to indicate it's in a discovery phase of sorts, and since I have that understanding, I will not make similar modifications to other pages. Thank you for the explanation.

ToasterWaffle (talk)04:15, 2 October 2020

To be fair no one can figure out what the 15000 and 1000 exactly are doing, so it's not like their removal is uncalled for since its very unusual info too (for something to be consistent like that from Novice->F->E and then disappear completely). The 10 on the other hand was/is just waiting for someone to figure out what exactly "10" is doing to reduce pot. poison.

For now I've just added "Potion Poisoning?" so that when someone figures out how the value is playing out they can edit it, but so that users can also appreciate what it's supposed to be doing. Leaving the other two out is probably fine unless someone finds info on them.

Lint (talk)04:40, 2 October 2020

Just to speculate, but it could be a timer for potion poison recovery; if it's a binary 'have/don't have', then it may not make sense to have 'partial recovery', rather just an overall timer for when the effect removal occurs. I don't have any insight on how Mabi runs, just my thought as someone who has developed similar systems before.

My understanding is that we don't even fully know how potion poison works either so, that may need to be determined first.

The game's skill effects are governed by pre-set variables and we have access to these values but there are no descriptions, and we have to match them up with game descriptions or testing. For example look at Musical Knowledge. I found that the reforges didn't make sense, so I looked in the numbers and determined both how success rates and reforges effects were determined, and someone made it nice and pretty on the page.

As far as the variables with 15000 and 1000, I can say those values are only present for ranks novice, F, and E, and these values were added when the skill was updated with talents in G17. Given their size, I suspect a millisecond delay of some kind (maybe those low ranks don't start "healing" until 15 seconds?), but leaving them with a ? is pretty standard until someone can make the appropriate connection for an adequate description.

Rank 3 to 2

I don't feel comfortable editing the page myself but the book Rest time is the best time 2 comes from Manus' special shop same one you get True value of mental rest from using the coupon from Fleta after completing the Rab's collar quest it's 35,000g

Eveechan (talk)16:09, 10 November 2018

The quest you get from asking Walter about skills leads to you needing to get a book "from Fiodh" called "Lovers in the Forest of Desire". Though, I did not read the dialogue as much as I should have, so the book I needed to get MAY have been influenced by my guessing?

Legiathan (talk)13:59, 8 November 2018

R1 poses removed from the gallery.

When we got the ability to rank Rest past the cap during RP events (Nightmare/defense and such), the poses didn't change past the cap, showing that they weren't actually set up by the skill. Recently KR got some skill uncaps, including Rest... and they still don't actually use the higher poses.

So since the higher poses aren't actually part of the skill, I've removed them from the gallery.

HP Recovery /sec

Is it me or are the values wrong for HP Recovery /sec? Health regenerates at a rate of 0.125 seconds. However, multiplying the HP Recovery % to the base regeneration rate results in higher numbers.

Stamina Recovery /sec seems to match multiplying the same way using their respective values.

Rest and Aggro

"The player is vulnerable to attack while Resting, although some monsters may not respond aggressively unless they already are in the aggressive state (e.g. Gray Wolves)."

I don't think this is true. IIRC gray wolves aren't naturally aggressive unless you're in combat mode.

Infodude575 (talk)16:22, 25 May 2014

It's saying once they're already in an aggressive state. ie. you smack a wolf and sit down, it'll attack because you drew its aggro. walk up to a wolf and sit down, and it'll just notice you.

Yinato (talk)17:04, 25 May 2014

Both statements are technically correct, since you aren't in combat mode when Resting.

Doomsday31415 (talk)11:26, 2 November 2014

The thread was created over 5 months ago by info because he didn't understand what he quoted. I explained the quote with an actual example, so I would hope that the 2 statements are both in agreement.

Yinato (talk)08:43, 3 November 2014

Actually, I asked because Mysticskye put it under hidden tags for verification.

While it is true the player can be attacked during Rest, Gray Wolves don't ever aggressively aggro (!!) regardless of whether the player using Rest. I'm mostly focusing on the "although some monsters may not respond aggressively" part, because Rest doesn't do it for the Gray Wolves.

Infodude575 (talk)09:33, 3 November 2014

While we're on the topic, are there any monsters that DO behave differently if you're using Rest vs just in Normal mode?

I hope it is intended, I constantly unwillingly cancelled sitting in a chair which means I have to reuse chair which uses a chunk of its durability, which would be fine but they can only be repaired at 92% and can't be blessed so. . . (I actually did send tickets asking for this.)

There's a difference between sitting in a chair and just resting.

You shouldn't have to apply the same rules to both.

Wound Recovery in Dungeons Using Chairs

It seems that when you use a chair in a dungeon you recover wounds, could someone check if this is for all chairs? I know for a fact that the Shroom Buddy Chair recovers wounds in dungeons. Also, I edited the page and left a link to chairs.

Twilikai (talk)22:57, 15 May 2013

It appears that it is treated as campfire for reasons unknown...sounds like a bug. either that or being relaxed allows the character to forget that they are in a dungeon...x.x

If u started some changes - do it till the very end and don't leave something on a half way.

Jemdo (talk)03:45, 20 August 2012

It's because of a text replace function I performed the other day. Since so many pages use "font" (which is not xhtml compatible) I was trying to replace it with "span" but obviously some things don't fit the replace function 100% so a few pages were missed. I tried to fix these errors but it's very hard to tell which pages have been affected when over a thousand have been changed in this manner.

'Rank 1' Resting Position

Is it really Rank 1? Because there are no 'Rank 1's in this page.

Unless the data lies, yes, it is rank 1.

r1's position exists in the files, and so does it's skill data. However, r1 isn't out in NA yet.
