I did this mission two days ago on the Japanese server. Here are some info:

-The mission is called Defend Tailltean - Gate Protection
-Each gate has two NPCs
-Each time the NPCs die, they spawn closer and closer (Up to two times) to the Alchemy building
-If any gate fails three times, you lose.
-If any gate is unattended for a amount of time, you will lose.

I just did a basic in the NA server and the lancers in basic are not heavy armor, they're one of the light armors (don't know which), maybe in the higher levels they have heavy armor, but not basic at least. --Magigoomba

Human Guard (Male) was able to hit me while he was attacking a Shadow Warrior. It wasn't intentional, but the splash from his sword was hitting me. The Female Human Guard wasn't able.

Really old news. Most allied NPCs can hit you with splash.

Alright, the explanation leaves a lot of holes. What type of Shadow Lancer appears for each difficulty?
