Description

Transformation Mastery.png Learn the ancient ways of studying monsters. The higher your skill, the higher rank the monsters you can study. Once you finish collecting a monster's transformation, you can transform into it. Depending on your knowledge, your stats increase when you transform.

Details

  • Passive skill that determines the transformations available and what rank enemies can be collected.
  • Requires a Dream Catcher equipped and held in order to transform.
  • To transform, open up the Transformation Diary and then right click the desired creature.
    • Transformations can also be placed in the hotkey bar for convenience.
  • Defeat the creature to capture and record it into the Transformation Diary.
    • Capturing is based on success rate, which can be increased by equipping a Dream Catcher, selecting the Adventure Talent, and having the Transformation Enhancement Set Effect.
    • The method in killing does not matter (e.g. pet kills will still count as a capture). However, they must be your finishes and not another party member's.
      • Finish is accumulated by the highest amount of hits rather than the highest damage dealt to a monster.
      • However, if the enemy kills itself with Self-Destruct, it will not count.
    • Depending on the creature, you may have to capture it multiple times in order to be able to transform into it.
    • You may only collect creatures of your Transformation Mastery rank and below.
    • You can also collect creatures automatically through Shamala's Monster Transformation Medal regardless of your Transformation Mastery rank. However, you still need the respective rank in order to transform into said monster.
      • If you use a medal for a monster that is above your rank, you will gain the skill EXP when you reach the respective rank.
    • Certain creatures, such as a Chick, are automatically placed in the diary.
    • Inanimate objects and NPCs can also be collected through Shamala's Transformation Medal.
    • Using Skill Reset Capsules to derank the skill does not result the loss of entries in the Diary, however you will have to rerank the skill in order to be able to transform into the respective rank.
    • Collecting creatures adds a bonus to HP, Strength, Defense, and Magic Defense, which activate upon transforming.
  • When you transform into a creature, you will inherit their characteristics.
    • Transforming into a large creature, such as Dragons, may result in a smaller version of the creature.
      • The character hitbox will also change accordingly. Be aware of your surroundings while using creatures with large hitboxes, such as Chandelier Spiders.
        • Skills that are affected by hitbox, such as Windmill, are also affected. For example, transforming into a Chandelier Spider causes Windmill's radius to become larger than while not transformed.
        • A way to compare hitboxes is to focus on your camera height during the transition between transformations. If your camera goes up, your hitbox became larger and if your camera goes down, your hitbox became smaller.
    • Certain monsters, such as Skeletons, may have multiple variations that can be transformed into at random.
    • You can only use the skills that the creature possess, but limited to Defense, Smash, Counterattack, Windmill, Rest, and Gestures.
      • You can also use skills that the creature does not have in its regular AI. For example, Spiders can use Smash and Counterattack.
      • The ranks, effects, loading, and cooldown times of the skills will be that of the player's.
      • If the creature has a non-melee weapon, such as a Hollow Knight's crossbow, it will still be treated as a melee weapon.
    • Any status effects, such as Mana Shield, as well as effects from equipment (Stats, Enchants, Auto Defense, Reforges, Set Effects, and the Dream Catcher's damage, splash, attack speed, and hit count), will still be active if activated prior to transforming.
    • You will receive a HP and Defense bonus while transformed respective to the rank of Transformation Mastery along with the diary's HP, Strength, Defense, and Magic Defense bonus as well as the percentage bonus from the creature you transformed into.
    • Your speed will be equivalent to that of the creature. For example, the user will march quickly while as a Golem, but move incredibly slow while as a Zombie.
      • Movement Speed bonuses have no effect while transformed into a creature.
      • The transformed creature's speed is slightly slower than the actual creature.
    • Equipments with animations, such as the Shamala Outfit, do not take effect while transformed.
    • The creature's equipment has no effect on the transformation. For example, if transformed into an enemy with a Shield, such as a Shadow Fighter, its shield's effects do not take place.
    • Transforming does not affect aggro, even if transformed as the same creature.
  • Holding the Alt key while transformed will display the name of the creature underneath the character's name.
  • There is no limit on how long you can stay transformed. You can transform into other creatures or cancel your current transformation.
    • There is a 5 second cooldown after transforming and switching transformations.
    • Changing channels, talking with an NPC, initiating a cutscene, or being rendered unconscious will cancel the transformation.
  • You cannot equip or un-equip while transformed.
  • You cannot transform inside buildings (with the exception of Dungeon Lobbies, Dunbarton Library, and Wedding and Guild Halls), the Crossroad, Solea, Connous Underground Maze, Hillwen Mine, Scathach Caverns, and Ladeca. You will also lose form upon entering one of these areas.
  • Certain items, such as Phoenix Feathers, Holy Water of Lymilark, Enchants, or Arat Berries, cannot be used while transformed.
  • You cannot access a Personal Shop while transformed.
  • You cannot open the Dressing Room while transformed.
  • You cannot exit a Homestead nor move homestead objects while transformed.
  • You cannot mount while transformed.
  • You cannot transform into a creature while a Transformation (such as Paladin or Demigod) is active.
  • All transformed creatures can "sit" on chairs if they are capable of using Rest, use Ladeca and Eweca Ladders to "sit" on Homestead Ladeca and Eweca, respectively, even if they lack Rest, and can be put in a bubble. However, most have no animation for it and will appear standing.
  • At Rank 1, the transformation animation and sound effect will change.

Skill Issues

  • Transforming causes Party Ads and Status Effects to disappear from display.
  • Rank C, 7, 4, and 1 "Collect a Rank Monster" total requirement counts are subtracted by one. This is due to the lack of update to accommodate the new creatures (Blade Wyvern, Snowfield Slayer, Korsek Raptor, and White Dragon) for their respective ranks.
  • If the guild robe is equipped, transforming may cause the main symbol to alter, though this can be fixed by simply re-equipping the robe.
  • Creature bonus contributes to Protection rather than Magic Defense.

Training Method

  • All "Collect a Rank Monster." requirements do not receive multiplied bonus training from events, talents, or training potions.

Tips

  • Dream Catchers increase the success rate for collecting when equipped. There are a variety of Dream Catchers for use.
  • If the creature cannot be easily reached and/or is too difficult to kill, the only way to progress is to use the Brionac Skill Training for "Collect a Rank Monster", using 0.25 of a Durability point on the Brionac per attempt, or Skill Training Seals.
  • For creatures that require many people to take down such as the bosses of the Iria Raids, equip a very fast weapon (such as a Dagger, Dual Wielding if Human) and the Chinese Dragon Set (for the set effect's attack speed boost, if applicable), enable Auto Combat, and keep attacking the boss and do not stop. Only the number of hits nets the finishing blow, not the damage nor contribution.

Master Title

the Master of Transformation

  • Grants the ability to transform into Shamala

Trivia

  • This skill is known as Shapeshifting Mastery in oversea servers.
  • Transforming into an NPC with a gender while equipped with 'the Married' or 'the Family Oriented' titles will cause the Husband/Wife/Father/Mother/Son/Daughter/Brother/Sister part to match the corresponding gender (e.g. transforming into a male NPC will have the title appear as 'Husband' and transforming into a female NPC will have the title appear as 'Wife').
