Basic Information

  • As you wear an item that can be equipped, usually its durability will be used up. The only way to recover durability is to have the item repaired by the proper NPC or Item Shop item i.e. Spirit Weapon Repair Potion (1~5 or 6~10) for Spirit Weapons. It costs money to repair non-Spirit Weapon items.
  • You can either choose to repair an item for all of its lost points, or for 1 point at a time.
  • NPCs can fail to repair an item; their success rate is fixed and will be revealed to you when selecting the item to be repaired.
    • When a repair fails, the item's max durability decreases by 1. There is currently no way to recover maximum durability for non-Spirit Weapon items except with certain item upgrades.
    • To increase one's odds of a successful repair, it is recommended that you bless your item by using a Holy Water of Lymilark on it. Holy water reduces the chance of repair failure significantly: see Blessed Item Repair Rate Chart.
      • The blessing will be removed if a repair fails, therefore it is recommended to repair point by point, so that if it fails, you may re-bless the item upon a failed repair.
    • Weather has no effect on success rates.
    • If you're very attached to a particular item or items that can be repaired, such as your armor or weapons, it is generally recommended to choose an NPC with a higher repair success rate so that your item will last longer. However, it will increase the repair costs.
  • Note that some items, e.g. Signs and many event items, cannot be repaired.
  • Spirit Weapons have an entirely different repair method.
  • Also, see the Repair Guidebook, Nexon's in-game book on repairing.

Repair Costs

  • Repair costs are based on the value an NPC would sell the item for, the type of item it is, and the item's default maximum durability.
    • Weapons, Wands, and Shields tend to have the highest repair fees, while clothing tends to have the lowest.
    • The higher the default durability of the item, the lower the per point fee will be.
      • For example, a Light Armor costs less to repair than a Sword that has the same NPC price.
    • The NPC selling price can be checked by viewing the item in a trade window.
    • All items, even ones that aren't sold by an NPC, have an NPC price (the NPC price can usually be estimated by multiplying the Resell value at full durability by 10).
    • All items of the same kind will have the same repair costs, regardless of whether it was dropped by a monster or bought under the Wednesday daily effect and/or Alliance discounts.
      • However, items with enchants that modify repair costs will violate this rule.
  • Repair costs increase at the NPCs who have a higher success rate; you'll have to find your own balance between success rate and repair cost.
  • See also: Repair Cost Modifiers for enchants that change the repair cost.

Repair Tips

  • Applying Holy Water of Lymilark to an item increases its chance of successfully repairing by halving the failure rate.
  • One point repairs allow for you to reapply Holy Water of Lymilark to bless an item in the case of a "failure"
  • Avoid repairing at Ferghus and Elen. Edern will repair with a much higher success rate but at a costly expense depending on the weapon/armor. Nerys, Osla, and Nicca are better than Ferghus but are not as good as Edern. Repair costs are also at a moderate level. The same applies for other NPC's.

Types of Repair

No NPC will repair all items available in the game. Most NPCs will repair a specific type of item. Below are lists of NPCs sorted by the item they repair.

  • The success rate varies between NPCs.
  • The type of repair done by most NPCs is related to their occupation.

The following applies to the repairable items lists for each type of repair. If the majority of a group of items use a certain type of repair then that group is considered to use that type of repair. Any items in that group which use another type of repair are listed as exceptions and items that cannot be repaired at all are ignored.
