Mabi market App and other Mabinogi related Apps...
Anyone with an Android or something similar use that app? There was another also, but forgot the name; it had a bunch of timers. I'm getting an Android phone when my tax is refunded, and it would be useful instead of having to flip from window to window.
Hah, I wish. The wiki is way too unorganized to be incorporated into an app. Itd be better off supporting a mobile version of the site, although that wouldn't be possible with all our wide template and tables; it'd be more of a hassle.
Let's see how far this current idea will go. Hopefully if I ever do finish this to the point where it's deplorable, I can link it to the sitenotice without it getting taken down, although we already have an advertisement banner. Too poor for adspace. (5.20 for the top banner ad?! Nothanks.)
I sure hope you aren't planning to put up a free advertisement for a personal project that competes with a project that someone paid money to advertise for.
Boy, I sure hope no one exports pretty much the entirety of this wiki, a huge community project that people have been working on for, what, 5 years?, import it and claim it as their own.
Wait a minute. That story sounds oddly familiar. And if I recall, not a lot was done about it... Strange indeed. Thank the internet gods that the few people who keep that wiki "up-to-date" suck at their job and that it's not the owner who actually works on it. If I can remember where this incident occurred, I'll tell you.
P.S. Thanks, I noticed.
I've got an idea! Why not let Daniel work on them? He seems to know what he's doing.
And maybe after he's done a few, he'll realize how much effort needs to be put into maintaining this wiki other than sitting back, letting the server host itself, and watching the advertisement money come in. Heck, maybe he'll even do something about it the next time someone exports the wiki's contents (yep, still possible, since he doesn't seem to care about doing anything about it, and I don't mean copy/pasting articles)!
Kadalyn called my actions "immature" after that Mabinoger incident, but this seems to top it (for anyone else who might be reading this, there was no interaction between me or Daniel from the time of the post and the user rights removal).
Well, I guess this is where my ban comes in (considering my administrative rights were removed after my last post; and I wouldn't be surprised if this entire thread was deleted).
Oh well, I'd rather be banned from the wiki than continue contributing to it knowing that it's under the control of some mindless dictator.
P.S. Come on, guys! It's only been 2 days and I've seen quite a number of mistakes being made already.
P.P.S. Good luck managing the wiki from now on, Angevon (& Aramet, if she still does). Hope they didn't whip you after seeing this.
P.P.P.S. B> Ian Justman back.
P.P.P.P.S. (off-topic) Fanime 2013!
This will be my only public post here about this topic. I removed your admin because your previous post was extremely immature, nevermind the banning spree you went on before, or the fact that you were specifically called out by a Nexon employee for your illicit activities on Mabinogi. I had no plans to call you out on any of this, but yet another immature move on your side forced me to clarify. You've had plenty of strikes and you didn't need any interaction to deserve this. If you think my action is immature, that's fine. Not my problem anymore.
I am well aware of how much work you put into the wiki and I am grateful for it, but I will not let someone so childish continue to remain on staff, no matter how talented the person is. This was, in fact, the only reason you weren't demoted already, and I was the one arguing to keep you on board despite your outburst.
On the subject of advertising, I don't make nearly enough from the ads to recuperate hosting costs. So if that's what your implication was, it's dead wrong. But if you think I'm raking in piles of money on this website, feel free to export the entire wiki and host it yourself. The license at the bottom clearly states the terms under which you can do so. Maybe one day you'll get as many hits as that other site.
Meh, this discussion makes me sad. Mostly because some of the things in it were my fault, and I've been editting around here to try and make up for it, but I never thought things like this could happen...
Mhhhh, it's complicated, it's just what I feel, I guess....
I'll just.....get back to 'work'...
Well, I know how that goes. But really, I can't even draw any correlation between you and this, let alone blame.
Eh, the Mabinoger thing, that's it...
Ehh...I only asked about the apps and if they were accurate and reliable. I don't really like reviews and was asking if anyone had more to say then what the review say. Kind of sad to see you go Kev (if you are going out permanently or something).
At the risk of attempting to get the train back on the rails, Has anyone on the wiki used this at all???
I downloaded it to see it. I think it works okay (not talking about accuracy here, just usability), but I always played Mabinogi windowed, so I had no problems tabbing back and forth to check the wiki and other things. The UI is a bit plain/old compared to other Android apps and it's ad sponsored, contrary to what the screenshots show. And you obviously get a lot more detail by using the board itself (not sure about other web UIs) like item durability and whatnot.
The timers app you're talking about might be Mabinoroid2, it's listed as an "also installed" app.
I normally play window but recently started playing full screen with my new desktop and such. might have to opt for a dual screen monitor or something. I think I have my old one sitting around somewhere.
Dual monitors still won't help as much in full screen because you still have to alt-tab to type in the other window, which minimizes Mabinogi when it's in full screen mode. Most newer games (including Vindictus) have a full screen windowed mode which is best of both worlds, but not Mabinogi, unfortunately. The best you can do with Mabinogi is resize it yourself, but you'll still see the window borders and whatnot. That's how I did it, anyway.
