Actually it would have been laughable if they did...also it seems that they called a truce, which may explain why they may have stopped the aggression of the guards...I could be wrong.
Edit: It was either a truce...or a temporary "I'm gonna ignore them and see what happens" type of deal. So far it seems like they are still angry with each other, but doesn't look like it's all that bad. *working with an elf point of view. My giants didn't get noob quests to see some insight into this...*
