Near the first step of all journeys, in a field of silent white it sleeps, where time and souls together there a frozen vigil keep. There the second symbol stands, above the slumb'ring druid - his regret a ceaseless wellspring; a feast of darkened mood.

Though clean and clear the river flows, it yet recalls the days its banks were dyed with blood. A terrible misunderstanding and a sweet poison altogether enkindled the raging fire that immolated the whole town; an atrocity the years shall not forget. There the third symbol the land shall bear, where once ashes choked the darkened skies.

Smiles and laughter fill one half of a world clean-split in twain. But lingering in its other half are sorrow, grief and pain. The jester's mocking laughter echoes vainly across the prison of the gods. The fourth symbol shall be carved upon the despair of the bard who sang of tragedies.

The faintest traces yet remain of that den of ruthless pirates where mermaid song would fill the air, ne'er to know the quiet. So was the isle that dreamt of a harmony impossible; a union of two races fated never their peace to make. Who is the messenger, spreading the truth disguised as children's tales? The fifth symbol lies hidden in that land where deceit and vain hope keep their eternal slumber.

The clouds roll in: old doubts the eyes of every man shall blind and freshly birthed mistrust shall hang entrenched in every mind. The lost shall be consumed with blame for one another, even as the darkness gathers there beneath their feet. The symbols that remain are planted where the black sun casts its light, there to feed off ancient curses and long-held sorrows.
