Hobnail Knuckle Special Upgrade 1 and 2?

I noticed that these upgrades are not on the list of upgrades for this item. I was also curious as to what they do. Special Upgrade 1 says it "Increased assault distance in ranged attacks" and Special Upgrade 2 says it "Increased assault damage in ranged attacks".
