- Nora Talks about the Tailoring Skill -

Written by Nora

The basic function of clothes has been to keep us warm and protect us from injury. But those days are long gone. Today, clothes are a fashion statement! Everyone wants to have the prettiest, trendiest clothes. You know you do too! Be honest. As you know, you can buy clothes either from the general shop or the clothing shop. But the problem is money, money ,money. It's too expensive for most people. So what can you do? How about making your own clothes! It costs less, and you can even make a bunch and sell them. The best part about it is that you make it yourself! Sewing can be a tedious job, but it can also be a good hobby to help you relax. You can even work part-time at the general shop and clothing shop, and make some money. The pay is pretty good too. These days, I heard Malcom even gives you the necessary material and sewing pattern when you take the job. It doesn't get easier than that! Almost all your material is provided and it's also good money. That's probably why there's so many people who are making their own clothes these days. Plus, Malcom buys fabric, dye and patterns from me all the time, so what's not to like about that?

The Skill's Rank and Difficulty of Patterns

Alright, let's begin~ First, you need to learn the Clothes Making skill. This skill is easy to learn. Buy the Tailoring Kit (make sure you buy it from me!) and simply equip it in your hand. You will then get the Clothes Making skill! Next, you will need 3 things in order to make clothes. The tailoring kit, sewing pattern and fabric. The sewing pattern is basically the blueprint of the clothes. (You can get this from me as well!) It's true that there are things in Dunbarton that I don't have, but it's a bit far, no? You can save a lot time just buying materials from me. Now you're all set. Put the tailoring kit in one hand, the sewing pattern in the other, and use the Clothes Making skill. Then just put the necessary materials. Easy, right? However, don't attempt at making difficult clothes from the beginning. You'll just waste your materials. If you look at the sewing pattern, it tells you its difficulty level. If you attempt at clothes that are beyond your skill ranking, you will most likely fail. However, as your ranking goes up, your chances of failing will decrease. When you use the skill, it will give you the success rate of that pattern at your current ranking. (How nice!)

Success and Failure, The Clothes Completion Level

Hold it right there! Before you go off buying patterns, thinking you know everything, read the rest of this book. There are still a few things you need to know. First, just because you have Great Success doesn't mean the clothing is finished. It's not that simple. Even veterans like me need to double check to see if there's anything wrong with it. After you successfully make the clothing, it tells you what percentage of the clothing is completed. You can't wear the clothes until it is 100% complete. So as you continue to 'Make Clothes', the completion percentage will go higher. So, you will need to do this several times in order to finish one clothes. It'll take you several tries before you get the hang of making clothes. From my experience, there are 4 results from making clothes. They are great success, success, fail and extreme failure. Remember, however, that Great Success does not mean the clothing is completed. It just means that you receive a larger percentage towards completion. Also, even when you Fail, your percentage can still go up a little bit. But you must be careful of Extreme Failure, for this can actually decrease your completion percentage. Well, that's about it. Good luck on becoming Erinn's top fashion designer!

P.S. I almost forgot! If your clothes ever gets worn out, bring it to me. I repair clothes for cheap~
