Wave count randomly switches to 50 during mission?

I can't be the only one who noticed this. It randomly says 50 waves but still ends on 30? Makes me feel crazy. Bug?

This is an intended trick-out by the developers as the text in-game mentions the Fomor and Human reinforcements arriving.
