Talk:Camping Penalty

From Mabinogi World Wiki

This probably is not going to be a large page but it does have does room for expansion. I am also going to make an Expedition Bonus page that will need more care because I only know that basics about it.Mkanke 09:59, 3 June 2008 (PDT)

Old Page

Is this page useful? Most of this is explained in the in-game book that it links to. ---Angevon 13:52, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

At the moment I agree with Angevon, it's fairly useless. But it does have potential since this is one of the big disadvantages for the hardcore grinders who spend all week at black tailed mongooses or such. I believe we need to get more statistics for this, stuff that isn't specifically explained in the game info: how long till it goes up, how large is the area you have to stay within, is it distance from a certain point or are there set parameters, how far do you have to go to lose it, when it goes down does it all go down or a set amount depending on how far you move, etc. When you grind to level 50 every week on feild monsters, this kind of penalty reducing information can save hours a week. --Sanity 13:23, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
"how long till it goes up" doesn't it just go up whenever you kill something? I haven't ever seen anything that suggests it's based on time.--Sozen Cratos Focker 17:03, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

calculation

Based on what i have done, this is based on monsters status (boss, awful strong ect...), how many killed, and how long of the time (or how far you have gone, im not sure) between monsters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wuberfeca (talkcontribs) . Out Dated

If I recall, Nexon changed how the camping penalty works, though I don't know how exactly since I never play without service. I think it can go above 50%, and reduces drop rates..? Or something like that anyway. *shrug* --Simpet 16:59, 19 January 2011 (PST)

It does reduce drop rates, I can confirm this. It's happened to me outright in the past several times. If you have Premium or VIP active, then drop rates will not be reduced at all because camping penalty itself is completely disabled during the duration of those services. The drop rates tend to occur if you spend about an hour in-game killing over 100+ mobs at once in the field in quick succession. Depending on how strong you are and how fast you can accumulate kills determines when drops will outright stop until you log off and wait 2 hours for the drop rates to completely reset. I've typically been able to spend an entire in-game day hunting Burgundy Bears on end before the drops stop occurring outright, but whenever I have a VIP or Premium service active, the drop rates never slow down nor stop altogether, and thus remain at normal levels and allowing me to effectively hunt field mobs non-stop and never face any penalty while the service I have active persists.
