Your computer problem

This problem happened to my computer. It was, in fact, the graphics card AND the motherboard... (Though you said above that you removed the graphics card? If you do that, you won't see jack squat on your monitor... unless you replaced it with another one.) Burn marks don't have to be present for your mobo or GPU to be broken. Mine had no visible marks anywhere on EITHER of them, but they were rendered useless by a power surge.

• Your computer is on warranty still. Explain the situation to your customer support agent (If it is a Dell like mine... you spend three hours on the phone, but they ship the parts out the next day) and try to get a refurb/replacement graphics card and motherboard.
• If this doesn't work, talk to their tech support. Think of it this way: The more you guys shoot and miss with replacing parts (for free under warranty), the newer the parts your computer will have when it DOES work. Ehehehe.

But I really think that it is your graphics card from the sound of it. Especially if you have a NVidia card.

Eh. I still don't think it's either the graphics card or the motherboard. The motherboard lights up and all when the computer is plugged in.

I'm using an ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics card, btw.
