Use Assault Slash to defeat as many monsters as you can within the time limit. Dealing major damage results in a higher score. As the test rank increases, stronger monsters will appear and you will need a higher score to pass the test.

General Tips

  • Your Close Combat ranks will carry over into the test, so having higher ranks would be useful.
  • Assault Slash's cooldown is reset upon striking the enemy.
    • This feature introduces a surprising effect: It is sometimes possible to perform consecutive Assault Slash attacks.
    • More specifically, if an enemy goes into Deadly from Assault Slash, you can immediately use Assault Slash on it again.
    • The Lycanthrope's ability to level up on most attacks makes it particularly prone to this effect. If the first Assault Slash attack puts it into deadly, and it levels up regaining its full health, it remains in the knock down state, allowing a second Assault Slash attack, which might repeat the whole process. That is, it is possible to get three consecutive Assault Slash attacks on the Lycanthrope, and extremely rarely a fourth is possible.
    • This effect, and the bonus points awarded for attacking the Lycanthrope, make it possible to gain points far more quickly in wave 4.
  • The Machete is preferred for its ability to knock down enemies with a single hit.
  • Counterattack, Windmill and Smash can also knock down enemies.
    • Rank 1 Windmill is recommended. Dan 1-3 Windmill works too.
  • Knowing enemy attack patterns greatly improves the number of Assault Slashes a player can use.
    • If an enemy does not respond to getting knocked down with a skill, it is likely going to use Normal Attack after being knocked down.
    • Wisps commonly use Smash or Normal Attack after being knocked down.
    • Sahagin Rangers cannot immediately attack the player when in range mode, leaving them open to another knockdown from Smash.
    • Sahagin's can approach with Smash loaded, but then stall for several seconds before attacking, so loading Counterattack can waste time. Use normal attack instead.
  • Targeting weaker enemies first can reduce the need to manage too many simultaneously attacking monsters.
  • Critical Assault Slash damage is very important, because high damage attacks provide crucial bonus points.
  • Success heavily depends on finishing enemies with Assault Slash.
  • Players can disable names and chat using Ctrl+N to improve visibility of enemy skills.
