Talk:Cat's Eye

So I see the table on the page that shows 1 cat's eye + 1 cat's eye + any sword = War Sword. However, I have a cat's eye from metallurgy on Doki Doki island that's 2.40cm and the npc-given ones that come as 3cm, and yet the synthesis interface still counts them as the same item.

How is the war sword made, then, if differing-sized cat's eyes count as the same item?

I used 2 swords and 2 Cat's eyes. probably listed wrong :s

I haven't tried yet but, see if same sized ones work.

Same sized cat-eyes give the red message saying that you need 3 different items, which means that both eyes count as one item type (which isn't a surprise for a stackable item.

If you used 2 cat's eyes and 2 swords, is it still a recipe? or was it from random synthesis?

It was still considered random I believe. I did ended using random other swords because I got the same error. Course, I paid no mind to it when I got 1 out of the 10 attempts I did (super lucky, or just by chance...). You can try multiple times if you want considering eyes are plentiful as of right now.

Hmm, but if 2.40cm eyes and 3cm eyes count as the same item, does it matter if i use the 3cm eyes?

So then what's the official recipe? 1 Cat's eye and 2 random swords? That seems odd...

At this point, It may very well be Cat's Eye, Sword, Sword. Honestly, if you really want a War Sword, the eweca orb has quite a bit out into the market. Could probably find a few cheap ones, plus you save those cat's eyes for something else.

Though if you're training synthesis, there are better recipes.

It might also be 2x Cat's Eye, Sword, Sword, considering I did leave 2 in the interface...

Do you remember what type of swords you were using? The resell value of synthesis materials tends to play into the type of item that can be produced

Because I was cheap...Dagger and Short Sword. A friend of mine has a bunch of swords from the Eweca Orb. I'll post his results later.

So does this sythesis work? That is my question.

Please do not list random synthesis recipes on an item's page if it is an ingredient. Random synthesis is extremely complicated and will rarely give you what you're looking for. There are many theories on how it works, and if you're interested, there were some experiments and discussions on how it works over here and here. I'm going to remove the random synthesis recipe on this page for now. If you have any questions or want more justification for this change, please ask and I'll do my best to answer.
