Missing Info

So exactly how much damage does this skill do? Am I right in understanding that the base damage with 5 charges is firebolt damage range + lightningbolt damage range * 6.5? And that it deals that much to the target and 10% less to each subsequent target? If so, why do people say it's a bad skill? It looks to me like it does far far FAR more damage than Ice/Lightning. Almost 3 times as much in fact.

It only shoots once. Fire Ice shoots 5 times.

Ok, it looks like you just glossed over my question and didn't answer anything. This is, to my understanding, how the damage for Ice/Lightning and Fire/Lightning works: With Ice/Lightning you strike a number of targets equal to the number of charges left with each shot, and each target after the first takes a cumulative 10% damage penalty. With Fire/Lightning at 5 charges you strike 5 targets for 5 * 1.3 times the spell's base damage with a cumulative 10% damage penalty on each target after the first. Because Fire/lightning has higher base damage, has fire's damage bonus with multiple charges, and strikes all five charges with all its damage rather than hitting 5, then 4, then 3, then 2 targets, Fire/Lightning does far more damage than Ice/Lightning.

Total Fire/Lightning Damage: (Both spells rank 1) The sum of ( Base damage * charges * fire damage bonus * lightning multi-hit penalty) for every target hit = (120+150)*(5)*(1.3)*(1+.9+.8+.7+.6) = 7,020

Total Ice/Lightning Damage = sum (Base damage * lightning multi-hit penalty) for every target hit = (80+150)*(5*1 + 4*.9 + 3*.8 + 2*.7 + 1*.6) = 2,990

It would appear you didn't read the article on magic fusion which clearly states that fused magic has a damage equal to spell A + Spell B as its base (unless someone changed it). Furthermore you seem to be confusing single hit damage with combo damage (an example of this is that Thunder has the greatest collective damage of all the spells, but the lowest per hit, while fireball and ice spear have technicaly infinite damage due to no target limit in their AoE). So since you didn't read the page, I will supply you with the info here. You would do (Spell A + Spell B) * Charge Count * Firebolt Multicharge Bonus to a single target including multiple shots assuming that target has 0 defence and protection. Firebolts multicharge bonus is 1.0 -> 1.05 -> 1.1 -> 1.15 -> 1.3 to the best of my knowledge. This would only apply if you were mixing fireball however. Furthermore Icelightning and Firelightning currently do not display arc decay in their damage,

I did read the magic fusion article and I included the correct base damage in my calculations above. No I'm not confusing Single hit damage with combo damage. Ice/Lightning and Fire/Lightning are both multi-hit attacks, so I compared them assuming they both work to their full potential.

Anyways, thank you for telling me that Fire/Lightning does the full 5-charge damage to each target and that Ice/Lightning and Fire/Lightning do not have arc decay. The articles don't say anything about that. That's what I wanted to know. In that case, before the int bonus, elemental modifications, defense, and protection, Fire/Lightning does up to 270*5*1.3*5 = 8,775 damage while Ice/Lightning does 230*(5+4+3+2+1)= 3,450 damage. Still a big damage advantage for Fire/Lightning.

Oh and Ice_Fire says that firebolt's bonus is +0% +5% +10% +20% +30%.

I know, I wrote that in there. I've been attempting to verify charge 4, but I've been busy and have no one to test it with lately. It is either 15% or 20%. IceLightning does less damage, but it is faster and the multiple hits do have their advantages.
