Is this skill at all affected by taming ranks? Can someone with high rank Taming confirm/deny?

OK. So, I'm going to assume CoD doesn't do much. I have rank 4 CoD and rank B playing. Can't tame a same-level White Snake even after 17 tries at nearly point blank range. That or Playing rank plays a huge part, or maybe even Taming ranks affect success %.

Don't you need at least r9 to play a magical music score (if this even counts as one)?

You only need rF music playing to play a Magical Music Scroll from Tara Rath. Also, that's not a very high Music Playing rank. If it's like Taming Wild Animals, it's about the monster you use it on, not the CP comparison to you.

I guess it's all about Instrument rank then. My other music ranks are low so I should be able to test pretty cleanly. I was able to tame a Gray Wolf in 1 try. I'll try to tame something else around 600CP and test again when I rank to A.

Taming Rank F also. I'll rank that up before I start testing with rank A Instrument

Ranked up to rank 7 taming and rank 5 playing. Tame duration is on par with Taming(5 minutes, tested by taming two goblins with both Taming and Music at the same). Tested at playing ranks 6, 5 and 7. Success rate seems much much lower if the score's rank is 2 or more ranks below your playing rank. I'll do a bit more testing later.
