Talk:Natural Shield (Monster)

From Mabinogi World Wiki

Can anyone verify what level 1 Natural Shield actually is? There are a few monsters that 'ping' occasionally and give a message "That didn't feel right" and such, such as Black Soldiers and Hollow Knights. Also, the monsters that are assumed to have level 1 Natural Shield have never done this (Werewolves, Ogre Warriors, etc.) --Zephyre 13:41, 4 December 2008 (PST)

Monsters with level 1 Natural Shield don't ping when you shoot them, but don't get knocked back after three shots like something with no Natural Shield at all. Same thing goes for level 1 Mana Reflector; three rapid-fire icebolts won't knockback. You can observe this with Werewolves who have level 1 of both. --Naiya 21:50, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Then how do you explain monsters such as I stated? What do they have that other monsters don't? --Zephyre 15:35, 4 December 2008 (PST)
What you described up there is Heavy Stander, which gets triggered by melee. --Naiya 01:13, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
I assure you, I don't do melee attacks while I'm holding a bow. Test it out, go into the library and keep arching a Hollow Knight until you get that message.--Zephyre 18:32, 4 December 2008 (PST)
Well, having finally seen this in action on a couple of Peaca Basic runs, I'm not sure what to qualify it as. It seems like some sort of auto-defense against range that goes off randomly is being triggered, like what you get while wearing a Valencia/Dustin armor (I see the exact same thing happen in PVP situations with someone wearing a PD armor). The rest of the time, the Hollow Knight behaved like a normal non-Natural Shielded monster, getting stunned and knocked back by normal shots. I think this is just some peculiar property of some select armored monsters, and not something that requires us to rethink how Natural Shield works. --Naiya 08:44, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
