So... How do I get image icons for items? Sure, the Seal is 1x1 so it isn't too difficult, but what about an item that is 2x8 for example? Do we have to edit out all the inventory cells or is there a way to get the icon for the item another way?

If the item is in your inventory, right-click on it so you don't have to worry about the little cell-block lines when cleaning (left-click if item's in a player's shop). Remember to be in Windowed mode, so you can select-out of Mabi and screenshot it that way (because in-game screenshots are always jpg).

LexisMikaya's Guide is more in-depth. Gotta remember to set the Interface to something Opaque.

If you don't have a program for cleaning up images, just upload it with a request for cleaning and someone will do it for you. Hope this helps :D
