This thick tome was taken from atop the altar located in the center of the room serving as the gateway to Tech Duinn. Its timeworn pages are filled with a multitude of prophecies that seem to span the history of Erinn, penned in a flowing script. Who in the world could have written this?

Script (G22)

Though the flood came, the fools could not be troubled to move until they were nearly out of air.
...and with that epiphany, led the rest of their number to new land.

The god had compassion for the survivors and blessed them, and when they had arrived in new land, they felt around them the very pulse of life. Then did the god revive the destroyed world, and used his...

Thus did mankind find itself the inheritor of great power and treasures beyond knowing, and sought the magic to manifest them. For a time, there was peace, and the peace assuaged the hearts of the gods. So it was that from heaven, the river of souls began to quietly flow forth.

(... The remaining passages are too faded to make out in the dim light.)

Upon the plains by blood of man and Fomor stained, he who through a moment's error was of his arm deprived shall surely return and drive out before him she exalted as the most beautiful.

When the Fomors saw that mankind's hearts swelled with valor, emboldened by their hero, at last they swallowed their pride, and vowed to win even through trickery and deceit. But though in this they have failed, a great lunar shadow was cast across the land.

Mankind wore the scars of their conflict; distrust sown deep into their hearts, never to fully disappear.
The key to the dark world was their synergy with...

Mankind discovered how to harness...

The sky shall open, and the one who has endured the cycle of eternity shall encounter....
Those who gained once more their ancient land shall enkindle their faith; all doubt have fled.

The mission finished, the guardian closed his eyes, and confusion increased among those who had been left behind. So began the long night, and that which should have been guarded was left vulnerable.

The one who observes the world shall disappear, and the first shadow that shall bring about the black moon's rise shall follow after, darkening the land. For the shadow shall deepen, making all as night, and in that darkness shall rise the moon of chaos, after the seventh night has passed.

At the toll of the first night, [...] will awaken, eye ablaze and enshrouded in abyssal darkness, breaking his great silence. His symbols shall be set in every corner of the realm, calling forth the forgotten ones. So shall he be granted the power to lift the sevenfold lids of the baleful eye.

Long have the Fomors awaited the return of the true king, and so shall they enter the mists, there to meet and join their power to [...]. Guided by the ancient rite, the Fomors shall make ready for the revival of their lord, offering up those who follow after the false faith, and those with eyes of crimson.

[...]

The first symbol shall be raised up in the land of mists, and in Uladh more shall follow: seven eyes in the darkness, nourished by the blood and tears spilt upon that land, fermented by the inexorable flow of time.
So shall the symbols' black sustenance course through the veins of the world, rendered up as a foundation for the new soul to be rejoined with the resurrected flesh.

Trivia

  • On the first instance of the open book, the Glittering Leaf can be seen, as well as the symbol of the Black Moon.
  • Marleid makes note that the book interacts with the reader's own magical abilities to determine how much of it can be read, and that someone who has no magical abilities stays unaffected by the spell.
  • Vayne hints that a certain someone might have been the one who enchanted the book as well as the Evil Eye Cryptex.
