Durability decay

They decay at the same rate as equipped weapons and armor right(per tick)? also, if i keep them in my inventory, will they still lose durability?

I've been told that no, they don't lose durability when just in your inventory. You can basically just keep them in your special inventory until you're going to demi. Don't know about how fast they DO lose dura though. It's pretty slow I know that.
