I was using that as proof that it's based on melee striking distance. If it were based on a range, it would be out of range just like the rest of the skills. Skills that require you to be in melee range generally mean you just need to be in or next to the hit box while ranged skills calculate the distance from the middle of your hit box to the enemy's.
