If my current account's only character for years has been an Elf and I purchase a human character card and form an alliance with each race on a separate day, can I still get the free alliance cards?

I'm pretty sure you can, but my knowledge might be outdated. My first character was an elf, but I got the free assistant cards when I created my premium human.
