What program are you using to crop/edit images? Just curious ^^; Oh, and remember to use am Interface Color (in-game Menu - Options - System - Video (Spring Herbs/Summer Sea/etc., options that allow you to choose "Opaque" instead of "Translucent")) that is opaque, not transparent, and to right-click the item in your inventory, so a little window pops up with the image and no stack number in the corner (well, it'll be in a far upper left-hand corner but shouldn't be obscuring the item picture at all)
Although I see now you seem to have done just fine so you probably know all that xD;;; Personally I just leave a 1 pixel space around whatever image I'm cropping, just so people can easily see that I haven't (usually) accidentally cropped away any part of the image. I also Zoom in a lot oAo; Like, 14x. Yay tiny pixels /o/
