From Mabinogi World Wiki

W-I-P

Few Pointers to distract you while I muster up the enthusiasm to work on this

  • No matter which destiny you choose, you'll probably have to resort to using melee eventually.
  • Make sure you disable Nagle's Algorithm as soon as possible. It removes a delay in sending packets to the mabinogi server that will cause a small but significant lag in your actions.

  • Human melees have a wide choice of either Sword-and-Boarding (Survivability/tanking) , Two-handed swords (splash damage/stun/smash bonus), or Dual-Wielding (High DPS/Skill damage). They are also decent knuckle-users.
  • Elf meleers...only viable choices are Sword-and-Board (Or blunt-n-board) and knuckles. Actually, your only real choice is knuckles if you're attempting to do serious damage in melee (Elves have crappy Strength in general, while their will is not too shabby with high Critical Hit/Windmill rank).
  • Giant melees THE race to be for the dedicated close-combat purist. Two-handed Sword+Board (2-in-1 deal!), knuckle advantages, and a shorter smash load-time that allows you to attack and follow up with a smash as a finisher.

  • For those of you who enjoy devasting combo attacks and speedy hits, try out a pair of Knuckles. Will-based damage and crazy multipliers for chain attacks.
    • Decent reflexes and a good internet connection are a must however.
