Description
Horatio is Hamlet's best friend and most trusted adviser. He plays his roles in Hamlet.
Story of Hamlet
Act 1 Scene 2
Horatio is introduced with Laertes, Polonius, Claudius, Hamlet, Gertrude, and Fortinbras. However, Horatio says nothing.
Act 1 Scene 4
Horatio and a Courtier discuss until Hamlet arrives. Horatio informs his friend that he saw King Hamlet's ghost one night. The three agree to wait for the apparition.
When the ghost arrives, Horatio states that it beckons Hamlet. However, he tries to stop him as the apparition might be an evil spirit which may draw the prince into madness. When the Grim Reaper arrives, Horatio decides to release Hamlet to stall Elsinore Ghosts.
After Hamlet returns, he informs his companions not to tell what he heard from King Hamlet.
Act 4 Scene 3
Hamlet and Horatio are seen talking at a Graveyard.
Act 5 Scene 1
Hamlet and Horatio are discussing at the Castle Hall. After Osric announces Laertes declared a fencing match between him and Hamlet, Horatio tries to stop him, which the prince disagrees.
Act 5 Scene 2
As Hamlet succumbs to death from Laertes's poisoned blade, he calls Horatio and orders him to tell the tragedy of Hamlet.
