The September 2023 Quality of Life Updates have reduced the points for the larger stat gains and increased the points penalties for death. The strategies on this page may need adjustment. So far I haven't managed to keep everyone alive in this mission so far, so I'm not sure what the best adjustments are. Here are the suggestions I've got so far.

The page currently claims inventory space is a problem during this mission. That no longer seems to be the case. Part of this is probably due to earlier updates that increased the stack size for herbs and potions. But since the Sept 2023 update, the player now starts the mission with a 10 x 17 Mysterious Purple Bag and 3 Medium-Sized Beginner Bags. The latter are more trouble than they are worth, because they take up 18 slots in your main inventory! Before the mission starts, you cannot drop anything, but you can destroy these 3 bags. Do so. Once they are gone, you will probably have enough space even without employing the 10 x 17 bag.

After the mission starts, you can also drop the 10 x 17 bag, along with the still useless Gold, Garbage White and Antidote Potions.

The page currently suggests buying 8 Bottle Water and 8 Four-leaf Clover, which used to be required for making the recommended 4 HP 300 and 4 MP 300 Potions. The clover are no longer required for these potions, so ignore that bit. --Librarian (talk) 15:48, 28 September 2023 (PDT)
