Talk:Potion Poisoning

Ways to Prevent it?

I bought 120 Stamina 10 potions from Manus, 20 at a time, and drank them all in a row in Manus' house at full stamina. Somehow I didn't get potion poisoning from this. Are there some conditions that would prevent a character from getting potion poisoned from drinking excessive amounts of potions? --ChibiMoogle 00:11, 24 August 2009 (CST)

Well, Stam pots IIRC are less toxic than HP ones. It takes 90 straight chuggings of HP10s to enter Potion Poisoning STATUS. In addition, the first "gauge" heals with time; so while you were purchasing the Stam10s, some of the toxicity may have worn off. --Mabiwar

Does drinking a potion for a stat that's full count towards potion poisoning?--Sozen Cratos Focker 00:52, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh, yes. It does count towards potion poisoning, even if your hp/mp/sp is full. Just using that potion counts towards poisoning.--Iyasenu 17:34, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

[[1]] The nexon page for g11 says Potion Poisoning is being rebalanced, does anyone know what changes are being made?? SoraHikari 18:48, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Toxicity of elixirs is doubled. Since elixirs are extinct, it won't matter. Tellos 18:49, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
It would be a pleasant surprise if they did come out along with advance play. =p --Miyuna 18:51, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
They did rename them... didn't they?--Aubog007 19:22, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Requires Additional Testing

Even in 2021, we don't quite have an understanding of how this system works. I believe we can learn a lot from testing, if anyone wants to spend the resources of consuming large amounts of potions.

An observation I have had recently is that the current stat drain appears to be independent of toxicity 'stage'. I was doing Siren HM while potion poisoned (low Str so I could smash the boss multiple times doing low damage) and I have found that the toxicity stage ended up recoving back to normal before my stats returned to normal. To provide details, my Str started at about 1600, then I potion poisoned myself down to 0. I then kept myself there for several hours and based on the chat messages I progressed back outside of potion poisoning (consuming addition potions did not reduce stats, even though my current strength was reduced to ~250). So it appears that the stat debuff effect is independent of toxicity stage, and you can potentially fully recover from toxicity while still recovering from the stat debuffs.

This is already mentioned on the page though: "There are two independent recovery times in potion poisoning, both taking effect once the player stops consuming potions. One timer steadily removes the player's toxicity levels and thus decreases the stage of potion poisoning. The other restores the player's lost stats by two points per minute or one point per 30 seconds. Marionettes do not naturally recover from potion poisoning, however."

I do agree that this page needs an upgrade though.

Bias to Alchemy

Has anyone noticed how biased pot poison is to alchemy? As an alchemist, I can spam pots and the stats that effect my damage are recovered at a greater rate rather than being diminished!

Edit: Should we add a section giving advice on how to initiate potion poison so as to help alchemists keep it up?

Using 23 Wound remedy 10's made my char into stage 1. It would be good to se further testing and to see if potions just gain more effect, I always thought they did less effect... It's a shame nearly no one is interested in it but me, lol. Also I'd like to know if I could, like, spam MP pots to get a hella effectiviness and then just use some HP. (Without losing Will nor Int, but being more effective)

Well then..

So apperantly a full stack of mp100s and only 15 hpmp 300s threw me into stage 6 potion poisoning. Alby was difficult with my flute LOL
