....fdksigkslgklh, why are a bunch of my pictures suddenly picked on for being assumed white? Both parts of the umbrella are blue.. I wouldn't upload over something existing if it had white. /)_(\ I only upload white if there is no available picture and it's been untouched (and usually for a vast amount of time).. better white than none? ex. http://wiki.mabinogiworld.com/view/Lacy_Swimsuit_%28F%29 (nobody deided to upload one of those over at least 6 months).
As you can see on my Improvement on your pictures, the contours of the stripe are not even visible in the Opened picture.
My color hex code reader returns as #000000 on the stripe at its brightest point. It is white, and serves to conceal texture. As such, it must be replaced.
PS: And am I not wrong in noticing that it is always BartRoberts who is reverting my improvements, on the terribly shaky grounds of bad eyesight? Seems suspicious to me.
No, I'm always reverting things that I see replaced in the first place over shaky grounds.
You're just nitpicking my images? The same thing with the China Dress. It's blue, not white. /)_(\
It is a close enough blue to white, that details are obscured. As I am always saying, the less ambiguity the better. My pictures are less ambiguously white than yours.
No it's not. It's completely blue, none of it is white nor close to it. The details are not obscured, nor ambigious. Your images show nothing more than mine do. I don't see why there was a valid reason to revise my images in the first place, let alone fight over it and have revert wars.
Holy. Shit. Both of you just stop. It's a fucking picture for a fucking wiki. No need to start WWIII.
Yeahh..This happens constantly over clothing images. Gets a bit out of hand for no reason.
I can't see how a hex code on a color can be wrong; it works independently of individual computer settings.
If I must spell it out for you:
As you can see, your 'blue' allows for no contours whatsoever in the region of the stripe, whereas my brown reveals that the strip is, in fact, 3-D, and transitions from a pale beige to a greyish brown.
It's irrritating as hell when you spend time taking and uploading pictures, you go out of your way to use your own money to buy items and replace images that aren't there or insufficient. Then someone reverts them for a bs reason. I hate wars just as much as the next person but this revert was really stupid, that's the only reason why I'd make mention to such. Nobody had even touched these images for two years, I just feel like it's almost an attack (which is really stupid too, but it's not unknown to wiki users of course..) because it's not the first time he's done that.
Claiming that just because 'no one had even touched these images in over two years' is not a valid point, as it is an appeal to tradition, and does not prove for certain that nothing is wrong with the images.
I still see several years old JPGs and jpeg-converted-pngs even today, yet that does mean they are acceptable.
I correct problems as I acquire the means to correct such problems. Just because I have not yet replaced an image I see as problemati does not mean I am content with letting it lie.
It is a valid point, because you didn't even think to touch it before I had. Meaning you're just trying to revert my images as an attack, like you had done before previously over something so small. I really don't appreciate your actions towards me, as I don't recall ever having done anything to you. Even then, it wasn't white. But I the contrast of colours in your image made it overall more appealing. I'm not about to agree with someone who looks like a troll, but really, your images do not show anymore than mine do, it's literally just a stripe and doesn't obscure the actual item itself at all. The overall colour IS blue, but the way Mabi is just makes it appear white when pulled like that because it is a lighter colour. That doesn't make it white. It's still blue
But, again, thank you for wasting my time. It's nice to know that when I try to improve the wiki by going out of my way to do stuff that someone will just shit on it, just because they feel like being a jerk. I appreciate it ever so much.
I thought the images were fine before and I was pretty sure the other angles covered the fact that it was light blue. But people are nit picking over the fact that the distortion/rendering of light/whatever makes it white. I'm sure there's also the whole "monitor thing" where different people have their monitors configured differently and what not.
And because of the (lack of) lighting, her 7th Anniversary Dress detailing turned to white. And because of lighting, we do not allow for images taken outside or during dawn, or dusk, because the lighting distorts colors.
My replacement of her images was to compensate for this unavoidable distortion of colors with a color much less likeley to be distorted beyond recognition.
I assure you, I do not revert images as an 'attack', or I'd be replacing images all over the wiki over grounds of 'higher resolution'
Conversely, I assure you: the constant reversion of my replacements of images originally uploaded my you is an attack on me, rather than you. After all, if it were not in specific defense of you, and instead on reasons that my 'white' was not actually white, then why haven't my China 7th Anniversary Headdress (F) been reverted? It was uploaded at the same time as the dress. If I had replaced your Nighttime images of the headdress for consistency, as I now realize I should have done, and will be doing soon, I believe my images would have been reverted by BartRoberts posthaste.
And on the point of 'it's just a stripe', in that case, why not replace the Nakuru Dragon robe images with a black one. After all, 'it's just a pattern'. Or the rule of no jpg images? 'It's just a pixel distortion'.
My point is that if we are to be professional about one aspect, we should be professional about all aspects, and your belief that any improvements over your work are for the purpose of 'being a jerk' rather than pure standards is quite detrimental to this wiki.
Don't bring me into this again. You've already requested a "warning" for me over nothing. I could go ahead and find something wrong with all of your images and replace them, if I really wanted to be like that. Shape up, you say her attitude ain't fit and is detrimental to the wiki as it is. If that's the case then neither is yours.
Keep in mind, this is two things she's done in a row, while it may not have been a specific attack against her from your point of view. It does seem rather convenient that both were for the exact same reason. Also, you even mentioned the dress in your revisions. Not very good conduct.
In most of these cases, you were the one inciting such conflict by repeated reverting. At least Midnightlust was kind enough to open a discussion thread, to talk the issue out.
I replaced two of her images in a row, because there was the same issue with them, in a row. And I plan to replace a third, or a fourth, of anyone's images that show the same problem.
And how was mentioning the dress 'not very good conduct'? I was proving my point by precedent, and surely the same policy that ruled on my prior image should apply for this and all future and past images as well.
Go ahead and start with your own images. You have overlapping hair in a lot of them, as well as white in images.
I'm not "talking" about this anymore, it's pointless, as it was from the start.
White? Where? As I recall, my only instance of white was very quickly replaced, with minimal amounts of protest.
And Yes I have seen hair covering in many of my images, and no I have not ever contested the removal of such a flagrant violation. You must also have noticed that I strive to avoid such violations in my most recent contributions. Is it not a improvement? Hmm? If you want, I'll generously replace and improve any of my older violations as well. In fact, I'll start right now.
I'll fix it now. As well as everything else. I was trying to be 'generous' by leaving some of her images intact.
Edit: or I would, if I had not missed the window for optimal darkness.. >.>
Well you know, Ciar is pretty dark...at least inside the dungeon. Optimal darkness would be the hours of 11pm~2am (23:00~2:00)
I'm thinking of maybe entrance to Shyllien or something... Or waiting until nighttime again while I compile a list of personal failings and their planned improvements. Ah, why do the sand statues need to take up a friggen 6 squares?!
Edit: nope, not dark enough. I'll be back in 20 minutes...
Hillwen Mines is pretty dark too now that I think about it...and I have no idea. I decided to wait til I have around 25 sands, pick up a statue, and throw sand into.
This took me a while when I afked all 24 hours yesterday and figured out I had plenty of sand and no statue. Since then I pretty much done just that.
Bart I think I can see this is clearly an attack on Oneris, considering your recent replacement
It's not an attack? As he said it, the images were already planned to be fixed. As long as it follows conduct there's no problem, right?
At any rate, it's all just nitpicking. I'm not going to bother with images anymore. o_o
Hence the difference between your replacement and mine. On yours, there was no plausible reason for a replacement; on mine, there was.
Wrong. The white draws the attention away from the weapon, being the brightest color in the image, making it hard to focus on the atlatl itself. You're welcome to argue that "Oh, it's not part of the weapon itself, however, it still applies that it distracts from the detail of the weapon. This is no different than the white cancelling out the two shades, it's a distraction/prevention from the detail of the weapon. This is the whole point for not having white in images.
Edit: Also, pretty sure the wiki policy is just no white.
Then going by your logic, we must scour the wiki of every image where the brightest color is not on the object in focus. Aka photoshopping every background black among others, and banning people with light colored skin from modeling darker objects.
Mabinogi World Wiki:Policy#Image Policy: Also be aware that if you use colors that are light or dark enough to obscure details they may be replaced.
User:LexisMikaya/Optimizing Pictures to Wiki Standards:Avoid using bright colors that may transition into white under certain lighting conditions.
Holy. Shit. All of you. Just. Stop.
One last time: It's a fucking picture for a fucking wiki. Get over it.
It's clear people get pretty upset over nitpicking of the atlat, but it's okay to revert mine for reasons that are equally silly.
@Oneris: Whether it's generous or not just replace the image.. I agree that the Headdress needed to be replaced because those images were pretty bad and unclear--they were basically much placeholders. Although, I will say, that was taken in Tir not Dunbarton and it wasn't raining but okay.
Also, I forgot to mention, but since you replaced the Dress images with such reasoning then it wouldn't be such an inconvenience to ask you do to the same to the giant version/set and the set versions since your reasoning be so grande.
