And we may never guess. Starlet wasn't really named after Boann, she was suppose to, but if she was simply named Starlet without any other information...well we wouldn't know about Boann. As far as we know, the J in Professor J is just a meaningful name.

He could be named from a character in Celtic/Irish mythology. He could be simply named after a famous Alchemist.
