Aeira receives a
book signed by the Milletian but authored by a man named Golvan. Not knowing what to do with it, she hands it over to the Milletian.
According to Marlowe, there is no record of a playwright by the name of Golvan. After sending them off to Coill, Marlowe takes his time reading the book, discovering its context is forbidden, courtesy of the Gods, and must be stashed away.
In the Globe Theatre, the Milletian tries to hide the book and encounters Golvan, a 2-dimensional Humanoid Paper. Assuming the Milletian is asking for an autograph, he "signs" his book while the Milletian tiptoes away. After discovering that his "fan" had left for some reason, he sends it back to Aeira via owl, who then accidentally sells it to Nele.
Marlowe states that Golvan is a character from Shakespeare's unfinished play "For Golvan" and the character himself somehow escaped from the context. He also mentions that the character is "cursed" to write unfinished plays, thus, angering the gods further as his book will constantly keep returning while Golvan is alive. In an attempt to eradicate Golvan, Marlowe tries using the Well of Avon's ink to "write" him out by tainting his book.
The second time when the Milletian comes back to Golvan, again for another assumption of autographing, Golvan is being pulled back into his story. Shakespeare appears tells Golvan that he must meet his fate. The Milletian uses the Paper Crane Aisling gave to them and she appears with her paper animals, and begs Shakespeare to spare Golvan. However, after Aisling appears, the stage itself begins to fall apart. Aisling "sacrifices" herself just to protect her fiance as Golvan and the Milletian disappears from Aisling and Shakespeare.
Golvan, after losing Aisling, feels that all hope is lost for him. After seeing the Paper Crane once more, he has an idea: he wants "to return to the start". He then tries to write a biography of the Milletian and asks for their signature. After signing the book, they leave, not trying to stop Golvan despite everything that had happened. Golvan considers trying to continue his unfinished story in hopes to see Aisling once more.
