Talk:Capture the Flag (2009)

From Mabinogi World Wiki

No items, basically just special titles for this event. Which wouldn't be so bad if the titles were permanent. Does anyone know if you get to keep the titles? - Gaea 11/11/09

I don't recall any non-permanent titles.... Except for the Imp's "transform" title in Imp dream land... Bidica 01:12, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Gaea is worried about it being like the Guild Battle titles where you have to re-earn them, but I suspect these are permanent--CasualT 16:20, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Location

Anyone kind enough to put the exact location of the 2 npc involved and if they're not there all the time, the time they appear? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Leyuu (talkcontribs) . Please always sign your comments with the Signature.png button or by typing ~~~~!

When the game starts, Lorna and Pan are marked on the map with a red flag and a blue flag, respectively, in the western field where the Black Dire Wolves are. --Aramet (Talk) 02:57, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
The characters will appear next to their respective flags at the times that the flags spawn. There's a 5 minute period where people can sign up for each side but not take the flags. The matches actually go from :05 to :35 in the hour. If one side has 5 or more people than the other side during signup, then that side will be considered "full" until another person joins the other side. --Temjin 11/11/2009 11:14 PST

Titles

Alright, we know how to get the first two titles. The Scoring master is received when you obtain the most points during the round on your team, regardless of whether your team won or not. The Stealing Master is obtained when you (just?) steal flags from enemy players and return them to your flag, AND have the most points for the round. That leaves the question of The Defending Master. The three ways you can get points is by taking from the enemy's flag, taking your own flags back from fallen enemies, and taking enemy flags from your fallen teammates. Would this title be obtained then by getting the most points and just taking flags from your fallen teammates? Just a thought. --Temjin 11/11/2009 11:19 PM PST

I just wanna add that it may be a little mixed up ? The description for the stealing master sounds alot more like defending master, and stealing should be about turning in your opponent's flags... --Ashe 11:21, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
That's odd, though. I scored the most points on the team by stealing, uh, stolen flags. Stealing Master is almost exactly like Scoring Master -- I think turning in opponent's flags is what it means... I'll try the same thing tonight and see if I get Stealing. --Dprotp 18:33, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Actually, Fate and I got the Stealing Master title in Tarlach yesterday. You steal your own flags back from the enemy. I know it sounds backwards, but you wait for an enemy to take your flag, then you defeat them and take it back to your flag for one point rather than returning a flag of the opposite color for 2 points. Getting points purely from stealing them back and being the top scorer netted us the title. --Temjin 11/12/2009 12:52 pm PST
Oh huh. I got the title last round. Turns out you can't even touch the opponents' flag. I'm guessing Defending means killing people but not taking any flags...? --Dprotp 00:41, 13 November 2009 (UTC) (oh wow i forgot to add that.)
So you can't touch the flags on the ground, but you have to get them from the flagpole? Or you don't get any flags at all? How would you get points like that though... Beepuke 06:49, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
I think Dprotp was referring to was the Stealing master title--You can't touch their big flag, only the little flags they drop. The defending master looks like it was updated on the page to have someone in the top 3 scorers (flags from anywhere) and killing the most opponents. Can we confirm this? --Temjin 11/13/2009 01:17 AM PST
You can touch their flag pole, actually. Zelphy on Ruairi got all three titles at once. And she definitely touched the flag, I was on the opposing team, and let her walk in and do it. Sadly, she has no clue how she even got all of them. Jessha 02:04, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

I have this feeling that the way to get the defending master's title is wrong. I've come in 2nd or 3rd in every match today, arguably killed the most people in competition with one other person who also came in 2nd or 3rd each time, and no defending master title for either of us. Maybe we need to get first place with points as well? Or is there something more to getting the defending master title? -confused- --Temjin 11/15/2009 09:41 PM PST

I agree, since I've gotten 1st and killed the most people FOR SURE, but to no avail. It's likely killing the most people with stolen flags, as taken from sources from Nexon Forums and members in the game itself... --Mystrion 02:51, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Omg, just recently did a match with 2 people on red (Including me) and 1 person on blue. We helped each other with getting points with the other flags, while half the time the person on blue would let me kill them so I can take the flag, hoping I would get the Defending Title for sure. I also let him kill me once with a stolen flag in hopes that he would get all 3 titles at once. The other person on the Red Team did nothing but transfer flags from one side to the other.
Results?
Person on Red Team got Scoring Master title and that's it. Made sense.

Person on Blue Team got Scoring Master title and that's it. We were hoping he'd get all three, but since he only got 1 flag steal as opposed to 8 flag captures, it was viable.

As for me? I got NOTHING.
?????????
I'm assuming for this title, you have to be first, get the most kills, get the most stolen flags, AND get the most captured flags. All at the same time. =< -- Mystrion 03:58, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
I know I'm bringing a lot of BAWWWWWWWWW to this discussion, but consider it research...
Did the event again, it was initially 4 v 1 (me being the 1), but ended as 2 v 2. I tried many different types of kills, including normal (range, melee, magic, although I know that doesn't make ANY difference), killed before the flag materialized, killed WHEN the flag materialized, killed between the time the flag was hit to the appearance, everything. I got well over 40 kills, as opposed to the like 3 the other guy got when he switched to my team. I also got a combination of stealing flags and capturing flags (more on the stealing though, I KNOW this doesn't matter because I've seen people get the title doing a combination of these). I even got a flag, got someone to kill me, and killed them back to get a flag multiplier.
Results?
Nada. Guy on my team's pissed at me for causing all of us to not get titles (since I kept ARing him to death while he was on the other team), other guy's asking for money, and the guy that I made a pact with for titles is just restless. =/
With this conclusion at hand, I think Defending Master accounts to the amount of people currently in the match. I'd say 10+ is required for it, but again, this is all my assumptions. We'll just have to see...So much crap over one mediocre title... >___>
P.S. Dang I wrote an essay...

"the Defending Master" Title

  • Obtained in a similar way as "the Stealing Master" title. However, you need to be in the top 3 on your team, obtain points from stealing ONLY, and have at least 20+ points from doing so.
    • this is yet wrong again, or maybe it right. but i had 24pts and i was 1st, did noting but steal. 11 people on red, 10 on blue.--Mowmooie 00:44, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Since the information on the main page is so very wrong, here's what it really is.

Scoring Master: Highest Score (One given to each top scorer on either team.)

Stealing Master: Be in the top three on your team and return the most of your own flag. This is only give one per game, not per team. So if someone returns more flags from their own team than you do, but aren't in the top three, no one is given the title for the round.

Defending Master: This is incredibly wrong on the main page, and I wish I could edit it. It is NOT similar to the stealing master title. You need to be first place on your team, and you have to kill the most. You can turn in any flag at all, not stealing flags only as the main page says. Turn in absolutely any flag you want, and kill the most people. Top scorer and top killer. That's how you get defending. It doesn't matter how many you kill or how many points you get. Just that you're the top. Note that many people go to CTF just to kill others. So you have to compete with them while getting points. Because it's the same as stealing in that only one is given per game. So if someone kills more than you, and doesn't get top scorer, then no one gets the title.

I'm absolutely sure about these, because I've gotten all three titles, and every one of my friends that wanted them have all three titles. Credits go to Beruchan of Ruairi for being patient enough to do CTF over and over until she figured it out. Someone please edit this onto the page, because I can't. Ended?

Is it just me or has the event completely halted? After ch4 was brought back up, it seems there is no more event. I checked all the channels and stayed at the area for 2 real hours. Srs, Where'd it go? --Ashe 08:16, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

After a channel restarts, all events are canceled til started by Nexon. They probably forgot. If it was past 10PM, then it's cause it ends at 10 then starts at 6 the next day. --κєνıи тαıĸ«) 08:37, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

"Obtained in a similar way as "the Stealing Master" title. However, you need to be in the top 3 on your team, obtain points from stealing ONLY, and have at least 20+ points from doing so. " Tried this. Had 24steals ONLY. #1 on my team, etc. Still need to figure out what the exact requirements are for this title.

Defending Master title came to someone with 29 points returning flags only. I got my Defending Master title by returning about 35 points of flags, but one of them was a 3-point return. I don't know what makes a flag a 3-point flag, but this MAY have something to do with it. -Riyoh

"Obtained in a similar way as "the Stealing Master" title. However, you need to be in the top 3 on your team, obtain points from stealing ONLY, and have at least 20+ points from doing so. " THis is true have been tested (If u wana see title plzz ask shadow98890 in mari server)

I've tested and this does NOT give it. There's something else going on here. I noticed a 3-point flag I returned when I got mine, but we havent been able to get this title through 1-point steal point returns alone, no matter the points. Please do not clutter the main page with discussion ;-; -Riyoh

Just letting you know, so that you don't do this to future comment pages. You need to sign your discussion comments with the Sign button, so that it can link to your page even if you haven't made it; it also makes it easier to determine where a comment ends. Also, it's not clear on what you were trying to say, you could try italic tags when you quote next time, or try to avoid quoting whole lines of text. You also need to use titles for your segments, so that the index section can refer to it if it is ever implemented on the comment page. Actually I noticed that you didnt start a segment at all, you just pasted a line code. You could add your discussion to the Title segment, it's right there when you scroll up. Also I have all three titles, and I only returned 1 point flags, nothing more. Not to hound you or anything. o.o --Ashe 08:16, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I couldn't find a help on how to format anything and these formatting shortcuts seem rather obtuse (at least I can't figure it out :P). Riyoh 21:06, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
