does annyone know if there is a difference between regular "fountain" and "red fountain" other than their apearence and how often they apear?Sozen Cratos Focker 18:32, 6 July 2008 (PDT)

Fountains

There are two kinds - Blue and Red. Blue fountains give exp, blessings, hunger, stanima, health, or take away blessings, hunger, stanima, etc. Red fountains give or take away strength, will, dex, mp, critical (possibly other stats) for a short time. Also, have extremly small chance to get 10000 exp.

How long do "bad" stat reductions last? I sure hope they aren't permanent. :/ DavidTheWise 05:28, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Probably about as long as food effects last. They aren't permanent. --- Angevon (Talk) 16:45, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
The red fountain ones aren't permanent, the blue fountains basically are if you don't do anything to change it.--Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 18:56, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Effect Changed Or Different In Iria Dungeons?921:56, 8 May 2014

Effect Changed Or Different In Iria Dungeons?

I found a Blue Fountain in Karu dungeon, and I got the "You have become very hungry" effect.

It set my stamina to 0, but my hunger got reduced to 50%.

I remember it being 0 back when I did dungeons a long time ago, but 50 is strange. Did fountains change since I haven't been doing dungeons?

Iyasenu (talk)02:38, 4 May 2014

As I recall, it's the same, regardless of location. I don't recall hunger for players ever hitting below 50 but the lowest I've ever seen my own hunger hit 50 is from fountains. Pets can have hunger drop to 10% or so...

IIRC fountains can drop hunger to 0%.

Are they variable, like how the wounding penalty can hit you between 5% and 95%?

Iyasenu (talk)10:01, 4 May 2014

It just drops your hunger and stamina to a flat 0.

Infodude575 (talk)10:09, 4 May 2014

That's what I remember from a long time ago, and the one I touched in Karu today dropped my stamina to 0, but it dropped my hunger to only 50%.

I mean, that's not a bad thing, but it's weird.

Well, they always love changing things behind our backs... Either way, more tests are gonna be needed.

I don't drink fountains anymore; I'm allergic to their side effects.

Infodude575 (talk)10:18, 4 May 2014

Huhu, yeah I usually skip them for fear of being inconvenienced by a full unbless, but what with Ingredient Hunting, I've been running through.

I'll be checking each fountain now, to see if that was just a one-time thing. It's not very important, but it'd be nice to know if they really did lessen the penalty for that particular thing slightly.

Maximum hunger for players is 50%. Likely no one has ever seen it go lower, and the "very hungry" fountain effect only gives max hunger and 0 stamina, forcing you to eat or face a penalty for the rest of the dungeon. If they allowed 100% hunger (100% black bar) from a fountain, your character would be rendered completely useless due to having 0 stamina and almost no stamina regen (stamina regen is incredibly slow "in the black"). This would be too extreme of a penalty for characters in general to be permitted, nevermind non-magic users. Mabi may have difficult parts, but never imposing random chance of impossibility.

Looking at the history, it was originally stated on the page that hunger went to 50%, then someone changed it to include that stamina went to 0%. It is most likely no one really noticed the discrepancy because this is not exactly high traffic information.

Edit: In the interests of clarity and consistency, if anyone does manage to get more than 50% hunger (less than 50% food which actually shows on character page, why use hunger?), it should probably be documented and put on the hunger section of stats

Food dos not drop past 50%. This includes if food is already at 50% from natural loss. Dungeon location does not matter for effects.
