Can someone fix this table for me? Something went wrong. Koil 22:17, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Took me 26 gifts of candlesticks with him getting "angry" 3 times (and I gifted him 1 gold 4 times and then talked to him with both of the keywords before gifting again). I had a different character to buy candlesticks from Endelyon and put them on my pet so I didn't have to travel anywhere. --Azurebalmung 01:57, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Gift Number Claim Egregiously Wrong | 1 | 21:04, 25 January 2018 |

I don't know who came up with "It should take about 30 gifts to unlock his secret shop." or what their method for determining this was. But my God were they wrong. It took me 90 candlesticks exactly in order to unlock it. TRIPLE the stated amount. Someone goofed, and I want to request that either this claim be removed in its entirety, or replaced with a more comprehensive explanation for determining exactly how many you will need. It is absolutely unacceptable to present such an egregiously, objectively wrong claim as fact, and to have done so for so long.
Unlocking a secret shop is not just about the number of items. It requires balancing three invisible variables which are affected by gifting a preferred item, gold, talking to the NPC about keywords, and more. If you weren't using the keywords on them, their "memory" of you won't be high enough to unlock the shop no matter how much they like you from gifting. If you weren't destressing them with gold gifts now and then, their "stress" will be too high to unlock the shop, etc.
After figuring out how NPC gifting works in detail a while back, I updated the bottom of this page with info.

But of course info about secret shops is spread across all sorts of pages that can be missed, many of them not mentioning the actual technique, so I'm going to edit that page with some more clarification now... and if you find ANY pages AT ALL that mention anything about "number of items" for an NPC, link them here so I can go edit them all to simply refer back to the info on this main page instead too.
