Talk:Stomp

From Mabinogi World Wiki

In regards to stomp capabilities

Stomp is an extremely effective attack against the Bandersnatch. I have mine at only a low level now, but it usually kills one in one stomp. I don't know if this is because it is a giant only skill and Par Dungeon is intended as a giant beginner quest- with other levels where a giant is needed in fight with the windigos. Regardless, I have also used this skill at the final boss the giant bandersnatch and the regular ones, and the same result does seem to be in effect. Stomp may be seen as a slightly useless skill, but I have found it useful in this regard. Also useful for stunning an enemy that has a faster attack, which is many since giants move at a slow rate of speed.--Syllwynn

It's not just you that utilize stomp. I usually use it to stun enemy directly infront of me so I can move in with my knuckles and hope to land in 4 of those suckers into the monster's face.--Kaillera 21:11, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Removed

"and can be blocked by shields using the defense skill" ~ It can attack through the defense skill. --Blassreiter 01:11, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Strictly speaking, if one stomps a defending enemy, there will be absolutely no stun, but the damage received is unaltered. I'll be putting that on the details section.

when to expect it uncapped?

when will we get giants stomp uncapped and how fast will it load at ranks 5 and 1? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gnu (talkcontribs) . Please always sign your comments with the Signature.png button or by typing ~~~~!

Range

What is the maximum range? Nandattebayo 05:59, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Regarding the video

Simple, short, it goes against the policy.
http://wiki.mabinogiworld.com/index.php?title=Mabinogi_World_Wiki:Policy#Video_Policy
Specifically, "As with pictures, ctrl+n must be used to hide character names. Please have the chat window disabled in the in-game options. Do not add your own soundtrack.", and if I had to guess, "In effect, don't link videos without the author(s)' knowledge and permission." and "Videos should be made specifically for the wiki.", though I could be wrong on those last two.
Since it's clearly against the policy, in a number of ways, I'm seeking it's removal, but not until some amount of congruence is formed. --Rusty 18:26, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

I agree. The windmill video has the same problem Phanterz 21:18, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

It only applies to new videos or if there is a video to replace it. Youtube videos may be freely embedded anywhere unless the author specifies in the settings that it can't be.--Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 22:49, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
The policy applies to all videos. --- Angevon (Talk) 23:27, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
So we take down any video without replacing it that doesn't strictly follow the policy?--Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 00:45, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
I would feel more comfortable if videos were replaced with ones that are in policy than just taken down for an unknown period of time. --Miyuna 02:13, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
That sounds pretty fair to me. I'm sure there are a lot of videos in violation of the policies. The only reason I specifically targeted this one was because I was reviewing the policy, and noticed the video policies, which I've never seen before. What specifically caught my attention was 'do not use your own soundtrack', and I recalled a video on here that did so. I dunno about you, but I don't like listening to crummy anime j-pop, and I'm sure not everyone else does (though most of you probably don't care, or DO like that stuff; and no, it wouldn't be any better if something I liked was playing).
Either way, if I notice any other videos against the policy, I'll bring it up in the talk section that we need to replace it.
It shouldn't be too hard for us to make videos specifically for this wiki ourselves, what with Mabinogi having it's own recording function and such now; we may as well hop on top of that. --Rusty 05:44, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Range

Rank 9 of the training method section says it's range increases, but it's not mentioned in the table, let alone anywhere else in the article. I'm curious what stomps range is. I notice at the top of the details section, it notes "Above rank 9, stomp will hit monsters behind the user." First off, this should probably say "at rank 9 and above", as simply "above rank 9" would indicate 8 and higher, though I doubt many people get confused by this anyways. Is this what "Increased Range" means? It hits within a full 360 degree circle (or cone shapes in front and back of the character; whatever it does) around the user or something? Or does the length at which it can hit actually extend? Thanks for any information. --Rusty 12:45, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

The hitbox is an oval at all ranks. The center of the oval is ~130 distance in front of a male giant's foot when they stomp and is set to be longer than it is wide. At rank 9 the oval becomes larger, although I don't know how much larger. I think its about 1.5x larger but I can't be certain. By my estimates r9+ stomp is 500 distance long and 300 distance wide from the center of the oval. Tellos 15:02, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
From visuals, I saw that between ranks F-A Stomp hits as far as a rank 5 Windmill. From ranks 9-6 it hits as far as rank 1 Windmill, and from ranks 5-1 it hits further than that, maybe about 100 more distance than Rank 1 Windmill.--钟国豪-BIassreiter 17:15, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
I didn't notice any range increase when I ranked my Giant's stomp past 5, but the Front-back distance for r9+ is no more than 600 (100 more than r1 wm) and the side distance is no more than 400 (100 more than r5 wm). Tellos 20:44, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
How is it affected by barrier spikes? does it go through? is any damage given on rank 9+ spikes? can it reach the other side against enemy spikes?
Stomp goes through any and all obstacles. It will both damage the spikes and go through them. You'll even get training for stomping provocation spikes as long as you hit 1 real enemy. Tellos 13:44, 15 January 2011 (PST)

Area of Effect

From Nexon's Patch notes: Stomp - Area of Effect damage now damages all enemies surrounding the user at all skill ranks.

I don't have a Giant. Can someone with >Rank 9 verify this?

Infodude575 (talk)13:07, 22 April 2015

Is it supposed to be a flat number or a percentage? I heard it was the latter, not the former?

Infodude575 (talk)12:37, 17 February 2015

Damage Balance 50%?

Where was that found O-o?
