Story of Romeo and Juliet

Act 1 Scene 1

The Montagues "taunt" the Capulets, and in return, provokes them into battle. Soon, the hot-headed Tybalt joins in the fray. Meanwhile, the citizens are annoyed and wonders when the Lord of Verona will look into this.

According to Lanier, the Lord of Verona had punished both families. To make up for this event, the Capulets decide to host a ball, excluding all Montagues.

Act 1 Scene 2

Lord Capulet speaks to a servant when interrupted by Count Paris, a man who loves Juliet although she won't return the favor. They have a little talk and the Lord assures Paris about Juliet loving him at the ball, and come to an agreement. After the Count leaves, Lord Capulet gives a list of invitees for the ball and gives the order to invite the people on the list.

Sometime later, Mercutio, a friend to the Montague, convinces Romeo, an heir to the Montague, to attend to masquerade.

Act 1 Scene 3

As the masquerade plays, the Montagues, wearing masks to hide their identities, come and play and dance. Lord Capulet welcomes them, unknown that they are his enemies.

Romeo spots Juliet and falls in-love with her. However, Tybalt overhears this and informs his uncle. However, Lord Capulet orders his nephew to stand down, who scowls at the decision but ultimately leaves.

At some point, Romeo gets to dance with Juliet, and the two kiss in private.

Act 2 Scene 1

After the ball, Romeo infiltrates the Capulet walls and speaks to his lover, Juliet.

Act 2 Scene 3

Juliet asks Lord Capulet's permission to leave for Friar Laurence's for a certain matter, but declines as the outskirts of Verona are too dangerous. A helper of Juliet assures the Lord that she will be safe.

The duo encounter several Verona Dark Skeleton Soldiers and a Panther. The assistant stalls while Juliet escapes.

At the church, Friar Laurence weds the two star-crossed lovers in privacy.

Act 3 Scene 1

Tybalt, still angry from yesterday, confronts Mercutio of Romeo's whereabouts. Mercutio soon brings up a spar, but Romeo shows up. Mercutio then tries to protect Romeo by fighting Tybalt, but the star-crossed lover stops. However, Tybalt fatally wounds Mercutio and leaves. Mercutio yells "A plague on both your houses!" before dying.

Vengeful, Romeo challenges and kills Tybalt before realizing what he had done. He then runs off. According to Lanier, the Lord of Verona had exiled him.

Act 3 Scene 2

Juliet's Nurse, along with her guardian, fend off Verona Dark Skeleton Soldiers as they make their way to Friar Laurence's Abbey. There, the Nurse encounters a weeping Romeo and in forms him that Juliet had also wept learning that her cousin is dead, but mostly that her husband has been banished. Laurence assures them that he will find a way to reunite them. Romeo, feeling slightly better, goes to the Capulet House to see Juliet once more before he leaves Verona.

Act 3 Scene 3

In an unfortunate turn of events, the morning stirs and Romeo leaves. Juliet assures him not to go, but is convinced to not stop him.

Meanwhile, Count Paris and Lord Capulet discuss for a wedding. They then come to an agreement.

Back upstairs, Juliet still weeps. Lady Capulet informs her that she will send someone to assassinate Romeo in Mantua, where he had fled to. However, Juliet is more concerned about the wedding, which annoys her parents. After Lord/Lady Capulet leave, Juliet heads to Friar Laurence for aid.

Act 4 Scene 1

Juliet arrives in Friar Laurence's cell and begs him to help her.

After giving her a drug, he informs Juliet that she will agree to Count Paris's wedding before the day, but at that night, she must use the potion, which will give her the appearance of death (no warmth, no breath, no heartbeat, no pulse, etc.) for forty-eight hours, where her funeral is hosted instead. The night after Juliet's burial, he and Romeo will take her from the Capulet tomb to Mantua.

Act 4 Scene 2

Juliet apologizes to her parents and is prepared for sleep. Before she does so, she follows Laurence's plan, and lies "dead" in her bed.

The following morning, Juliet's death is learned and her family weeps. Laurence assures the Capulets and Paris that everything will be all right.

Ah, My lovely daughter!

All the things that we ordained from festival, Turn
from their office to a black funeral;
Our bridal flowers serve for a buried
corse,
Our wedding cheer to a sad burial
feast,
And all things change them to the

contrary.
