G16s2
So it's going to be removed and reinstated as a passive skill. Whatever happens to this page?
Page'll probably be kept, just revised in some odd ways.
But removing it doesn't seem right, since Sharp Mind DOES ADD HEALTH.
The skill page will either be kept for reference, or updated like Infodude575 said. The skill itself is broken in terms of its original use (There's a reason why Sharp Mind, as old as the skill is, is still capped at rA). This skill is an asset to new players, but more experienced players won't have a use for it. ie. You see a golem swinging its arm in the air. If you didn't know it's got stomp loaded the first time you see it, you'll probably clue in after it uses it.
As for the health portion, +12 hp is nice when you're new to the game or have a new character, but as you start fighting things that are capable of dealing 100+ damage in one hit (if not putting you in deadly), multi aggroing, causing a status affliction (the list goes on and on...) is 12 hp going to really help? Sure, there are going to be exceptions, but it won't help the majority of the time.
tl;dr sharp mind is broken as is, 12 hp isn't much later on in the game, and the skill is next to useless as you get more comfortable and familiar with monster AIs/skills in general.
Sharp mind isn't always successful, and ranking the skill doesn't increase how often it'll work. On top of that issue, sharp mind is limited to revealing only skills that your character knows. So even if sharp mind "successfully reads" a monster's skill, it won't reveal it unless your character has it to begin with (like the earlier example of a golem using stomp: you won't see the stomp skill icon above the golem's head unless you're a giant that can use stomp). Sharp mind's limitation, although it makes sense, is the reason why it's broken and next to useless (as a skill) once you start fighting a larger variety of monsters. Experienced players, and I don't mean level wise, are usually able to predict what skill a monster is using (or at the very least, rule out at least 15 skills as a possibility).
Experience > sharp mind
Actually...monster stomp is far different from Giant stop, but that's be sides the point. The AP is gonna get refunded, so I'm guessing it gets deranked to F...or even novice.
Yeah, the golem example was just to get the point across. All that's changing is the hp the skill gave will be removed, all ap will be returned, and sharp mind will become a hidden skill.
Move current page to something like "Sharp Mind (Skill)". Make a note that it is no longer used.
Make this into one of those pages like Teleportation, where there are just details (without the list of mobs ofcourse)
just a suggestion.
No. I was just thinking...
- As of G16S2, this skill has been removed and replaced with the more current Sharp Mind ability.
We got rid of an old G3 because it didn't seem so relevant. Honestly, I could care less whether we archive things or not.
Wasn't that much of a change so we got rid of it. =X Although this would be a huge change. On a similar note, how are going to separate the elf, human, and giant quests on 1 generation page? Since I think most quests should still be the same, I don't know, but some are different for sure.
Ehh this is a shot in the dark for the Live server, but the Test server has every mob revealing what they do...we even see Monster Stomp O-o...soo it's been buffed...or that was for testing purposes...
I can definitely confirm that the activation requiring Defense/Counterattack isn't true.
Does the rate of success still apply or...?
Also, can pets use this or are they still stuck with no-see-monster-skill?
Skill icons for monsters only exist for very few skills since they stopped midway through C1 because you couldn't see them anyway (then). Teleportation is an old skill and its icon was only added recently for Morrighan, whose teleportation is significantly weaker. All of the skill icons can be seen in the pack files, though.
Almost all of them are custom. The ones that aren't are Stomp, Heavy Stander, Mana Reflector (Icon has an R but its actually D), Natural Shield, and Beholder Beam. And all of those besides Beholder beams are just blank skill icons with text on them. There's also an icon for using Potions, Full Swing (completely unrelated to the released Beast one), and Final Smash.
o.O Final Smash?...and uhh Full swing? e-e? I wanna see those...though I probably saw them without knowing...
It's probably cause it's using Thunder in conjunction with Chain Casting so it shows up as unknown? (that's my guess o-o)
Chain Casting has its own icon ya know.
But explain how it can use Lightning Bolt with CC and I can still see it...
0:33, you can clearly see Arc Lich and Ice Spear icon.
Thunder and Flame Burst not showing up is probably a glitch...
