Headless Images

Hello! I just wanted to give you a heads up here. Headless images aren't really going with the Image Policy at this moment, so if you could give the model a head when you replace the images that would be great, IF you can still take the images that is. A good sidechoice you could use for the head cutting is just cutting above the eyes like User:Aesthetics, User:Litehaku795, and I do it. It is accepted by the admins which is a good plus! You don't need to include the head for shoes/gloves/etc. of course, but for bodywear it's key. Otherwise, you've been doing really well here at the wiki, keep up the good work! ^^

♥šεεçrετ♥ (talk)12:48, 21 December 2012

Thank you for your words. I'll look into replacing those images.

On the sidenote of Policies: Do you know of how exactly to work with the "StyleEquip" template? I find the long string of lines confusing, as I asked in the Wiki Home Page, but with no responses yet.

If you are not the person to ask, can you direct me to where or who to look for?

Starpaw7 (talk)14:37, 21 December 2012

In all honesty, I wouldn't be the one to ask because it confuses the heck out of me as well. Thing is, we didn't always have that, it's something more recently added.

♥šεεçrετ♥ (talk)14:53, 21 December 2012

I see. I will ask the person who created it; thank you for answering.

Starpaw7 (talk)14:55, 21 December 2012

To avoid making a new thread, I'll try to answer here. I'm not entirely sure which one it is, but I would've placed my bet that changing either DB_StoreType="0" or Price_Buy="0" to 1 would get rid of the "Cannot be sold to NPCs" message.

...But then I looked at the coding. Apparently the limitations are bounded by the parameter "Attr_ActionFlag". If neither of the others work, try deleting that parameter.

However, I would also like to remind you that currently it is against policy to copy-and-paste data from the client! This was something that occurred around a month ago. There was even an announcement that as of now, data mining is no longer to be tolerated. I would like to warn you that being banned from the wiki is actually the least of your worries; in an extreme case - unlikely, but the possibility's there - you could have been banned from the game. Please be careful next time.

Akira (talk)14:57, 21 December 2012

Thanks!: Changing the first 2 settings to "1" put in the question mark that I wanted under "NPC Value", and deleting "Attr_ActionFlag" did remove the "Cannot be sold to NPCs" text.

What I now do not understand is the "copy-and-paste data from the client". Does this mean that I can't, say, look at an item and add its Durability to the Wiki, or some other issue that I missed?

I only assume that those words mean the phrases such as "<Mabi_Item ID="15862"", while (Example: Template:DataVanalen Rain Slicker (F)) "File_FemaleMesh="female_2011_raincoat01_blsh"" confuses me, so I tried to put in the best guess that I could for Template:DataSwan Lake Outfit.

Starpaw7 (talk)15:05, 21 December 2012

Trying to add durability should be fine - adding an entire string is not.

Anything that hints at data mining, try to avoid. That includes stuff like "Mabi_Item ID" and "File_FemaleMesh", because it's clearly obvious it comes from client files. Durability is easily enough seen, so those should probably be fine.

(Maybe it's best to use the wiki's older equipment templates for new stuff. If it's still around.)

The original discussion's at Thread:Talk:Wiki Home/Regarding the recent policy changes., if you're interested.

Akira (talk)15:15, 21 December 2012

Errr...yea this is way too confusing for me T.T I liked the old template thingy..

♥šεεçrετ♥ (talk)15:08, 21 December 2012

The other template seemed more straight-forward, but this relatively recent one makes the tables much more smooth than how they were before.

From how it looks, most of the terms don't seem to show any visible difference when applied.

Starpaw7 (talk)15:11, 21 December 2012

...Starpaw. I initially thought you were copy-pasting from the client files, for which I apologize. I can see now you're only copy-pasting from other pages and changing the parameters where applicable.

But to rehash my earlier statement, "Anything that hints at data mining, try to avoid". I'm pretty sure there's a lot of irrelevant stuff you can just delete without breaking the template. Everything that start with "Taste", attack stats if the equipment's obviously not a weapon, that sort of stuff.

Also, forgot to say this earlier, but you might want to put in invisible comments that tell other editors that the information was tampered with. You put in invisible comments with the <!-- --> codes. For example, you might not see this , but if you click on the liquid thread's "More" and then on "Edit", you will.

Akira (talk)15:36, 21 December 2012

That assumption was reasonable; I thank you for telling how to put in invisible comments, which I might use for other situations, if it is decided to just leave the template as blank rather than deleting rows of it.

Starpaw7 (talk)01:46, 22 December 2012

I would suggest just not to even fill it out, so that it is still marked as undone when I do get the time to go through it. Otherwise, I'll probably miss it due to it being marked as already filled in, and chances are, with inaccurate information.

Is there somewhere where I can copy-paste the base template? I went to Template:StyleEquip, but clicking "Edit" doesn't seem to show it alone.

Starpaw7 (talk)01:45, 22 December 2012

There is no base template because it is retrieved from in-game data.

The next version of the styleequip template will be a somewhat more beginner-friendly version, but still, item info should be left alone until I get to it. I will be reviewing all pages again to implement the new template, so new items will also have their data put in.

With that, should new items/new information on items not be added at all until the new template is created?

Starpaw7 (talk)01:55, 22 December 2012

The new template is actually just the old template with some aesthetic changes. I finally got the time to work on it today, since the semester's over. It's near complete, just double checking for any mistakes. I'll be updating the template and the pages soon.

The weapon one, is still a to-do, though. Only did equip today.

To answer your question directly: yes, information should not be added or altered right now.

Thank you. The new template will be looked forward to.

Starpaw7 (talk)02:07, 22 December 2012

Concerning what you said here, was an alternative would it be all right to add the StyleEquip templates to the new pages that need it for now, then when the new template is created I would be the one to replace those exact pages that I added the current template to?

I noticed that your file names end in .png, but they seem to be jpegs saved as .pngs. You can tell by the lack of quality in these images. This causes confusion to whether or not images will need to be reuploaded because many people have hard time distinguishing these. If you could, please reupload your images as actual pngs, or cease the upload of these files until someone else replaces them with actual PNGs. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

The apology is mine; I did not read the policy first.

Due to my inexperience with handling images, I tried the "General Guide" on making PNG image files from the game itself; if you could confirm that "File:Potato & Egg Salad Journal.png" is correct, then I will replace all of the previous files.

Starpaw7 (talk)04:00, 24 November 2012

Yes, it does seem the newer revision of the Potato & Egg Salad file is correct. Thank you.

If there's a ref error it means the page needs the line " <references/> " placed at the end somewhere. Usually put it under a "Notes" or "References" section.
