Carpentry list?

It would be useful to get an overview of what can be created using Carpentry up next, like all the other life skills. Thanks for putting up this new page; I know a lot of people like to know what will come out soon. Lhazzal 21:08, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Obtaining

How do you obtain this? - A Random User 02:03, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Carpentry = Fletching?

Since you mainly make bows with this skill, it should really be named Fletching instead of Carpentry, does anyone know for sure? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bryanneo (talkcontribs) . Please always sign your comments with the Signature.png button or by typing ~~~~!

Since the official name (at least for foreign servers) is Carpentry it will remain so unless NA decides to rename it to that. Please know that the names of all the skills are official either from NA or overseas servers. None of the skills' names are fan made. --Miyuna 18:28, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

I understand, maybe future updates will allow us to make items for houses? Then this skill would make good sense to me. Just the fact that this list we have at the moment is really only bows and different type of firewood. --Bryanneo 13:56, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Besides, fletching makes arrows.Novaix 05:54, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Fletching is the aerodynamic stabilization of arrows or darts with materials such as feathers, each piece of which is referred to as a fletch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fletching BladeBlade 07:10, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Ah, but a person who makes bows is known as a "fletcher." --Haven923 00:41, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Rank 2 Req

The rank 2 requirements were very off. They might still be off, but I fixed it to make it more sensible —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kentngo (talkcontribs) . Please always sign your comments with the Signature.png button or by typing ~~~~!

Skills

Why is Carpentry listed under the skills category? no other skill is in the skills category :| --Marthian 06:42, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

My bad, I had removed the "Future" part of "Category:Future Skills" when it was implemented because I was used to doing that on the item/equipment pages. --Aramet (Talk) 07:01, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Gathering bonus?

Does anyone know if the gathering bonus from carpentry skillups applies to the old fashioned way of gathering firewood too? Edetha 22:01, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Gathering

On the gathering page, it says "Base woodcutting success rate is 50%." On this page it says 40%. Is cutting from trees and cutting from gathering blocks different success rates? That seems kind of odd, since a huge part of this skill requires you to chop endless wood at lower ranks -- you'd be better off killing off all the trees in Dugald Forest instead of using the chopping blocks. --Simpet 02:14, 11 January 2011 (PST)

Gather is (40% + Production Mastery) * Rain Bonus Tellos 09:21, 11 January 2011 (PST)

Quality chart is outdated

I've crafted multiple bows at higher than X-grade, example, Guardian bow (for GM mission) Quality came out +5 dura, +4 max, + 5 crit, +7 balance, Signed.

Odinxcore (talk)05:18, 2 February 2018

Next time you craft a bow that ends up with stats higher than on the chart, please take a screeshot of the white-text center-screen message that shows up, because that shows which bonuses come from which sources.

Rydian (talk)18:19, 2 February 2018

Dangit, just did it before I read this with a composite bow, same +4 max and all. I'll try and make some more later and I'll post pics of white splash text.

Odinxcore (talk)15:29, 4 February 2018

here's a crossbow one with talent, daunting, and grandmaster. https://i.imgur.com/EDLWd0y.png

Grade/Quality: Balance+5, Crit+5, Max+2, Min+2, Dura+3

Skill Rank: Balance+2, Dura+2

Active Talent: Min+1, Max+2

GM Bonus: Min+1, Max+1

1 - The stat bonuses you got for quality are exactly what you get for x-grade on the chart.

2 - The second line is the inherent flat stat bonuses you get from your Carpentry rank, they're listed on the page too.

3 - The third line is the bonuses you get for having Carpentry as your active talent, it's listed higher up in the page.

4 - The 4th line appears to be your active GM effect for carpentry.

Rydian (talk)07:30, 5 March 2018

I understand now, however I would think higher quality grades for carpentry would be named to differentiate between X grade and GM+master x grade. seems a little lacking.

Odinxcore (talk)10:17, 5 March 2018

The grade system is not just for carpentry, it's the same item quality system that the game uses for other things too (like cooking, blacksmithing, tailoring, even dropped weapons from monsters and synthesis). In addition what if somebody has the GM effect on but doesn't have carpentry as their active talent? Then they'd get those stats minus the third line.

So the bonuses are listed separately because they have separate sources.

Fine grade bow

What are the conditions required to produce a "fine grade bow"? or is it just random?

Benifits of Carpentry

I am considering training Carpentry, but after looking over this page, I dont really see how it would be of any use to me. I don't fight, am not an enchanter, and already have Rank 1 Refining. When I do fight... It's usualy with range, but the bows made with Carpentry can all be purchased from NPCs.

Could anyone think of any reason I should train this skill?

Hershey68707:45, 28 July 2011

Higher quality bows? Other than that, there seems to be no use for you to train this skill.

Oddly enough Melee's rank it for the str it gives. If your an archer and dont care for the str then there is no reason, better just asking someone to make em for you

Normal woodcutting success affected?

I'm going to assume no for now,but i've noticed that the woodcutting skill bubble for normal trees is identical to the carpentry icon,so it could be possible.

So normal woodcutting= (50% + carpentry bonus) and lumber chopping= (40% + carpentry bonus)?

Pyroblade11:15, 8 April 2011

Personally I suspect it does, but given the flaky RNG and the small bonus I suspect it'd be quite difficult to test.

Domirade [Tarlach] (talk)01:18, 17 May 2011

Looking at the collectingform data I'd say no. Carpentry is the only form of collecting that uses the Carpentry skill as it's support skill. Normal firewood gathering with an axe uses the traditional "Collecting" skill and no support. Herb picking on the other hand all use the base "Collecting" skill plus Herbalism as their support skill.
