Talk:Healing
"Receiving Healing while in distress can be obtained in this manner without assistance from others."
What exactly does that sentence mean? The wording confuses me. ---Angevon
- I think it means that "Receiving Healing while in distress," which is a training method for the skill, can be trained without getting assistance (help) from others, possibly meaning that you can just heal yourself when under 10% of MaxHP. Mathonwy 05:43, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Changed the wording, hopefully its clearer now.--Jacobpaige 06:43, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
What is the "Dark Knight Disarm state" mentioned in the "Easy Training" going above R4? Firegryphon 19:52, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- When a DK's time runs out, it starts losing HP rapidly, making it a good target for heal training. ---Angevon 19:56, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- But the DK won't go into Deadly Status, so it's not useful for ranks above 4, right? --Doomsday 13:52, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Correct, they won't go into deadly status and stay transformed. However, deadly status is not required to fulfill the "Distress" healing requirement, only HP below 10% of the total. For example, if a DK has ~1500 HP, as long as the have under 150 HP, it'll count towards the training requirement. --Sogard6 03:03, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

No Longer Trainable?
After the G9 patch i can't use healing to train anything, including healing, which means i can't rank up healing or magic mastery, has anyone else had this problem? (rank f healing, a magic mastery) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neouu84 (talk • contribs) . Please always sign your comments with the button or by typing ~~~~!

I would argue there's another easy method to train Healing, particularly in the later ranks that require one to heal someone in distress. It requires access to Scuabtuinne (through the completion of G23), particularly the Awakened Abyssal Lord mission.
1. Start the mission 2. Speed past all the turtles (preferably on a fast pet) and make sure they aren't chasing you, or they drop their aggro 3. Stand close to one of the switches with the red auras and wait until Deadly status is attained 4. Use Healing
When the gauge completely fills and the mission fails, the process can be repeated.
Do note that if you chose to go by yourself, Healing will consume Stamina... and a lot of it since you'll be doing this in succession. You may wish to bring lots of Stamina Potions. If Potion Poisoning is a concern, it would be very helpful to bring a Burning Flame Crystal which can be gained by contributing to the Campfire Spirit (via burning 10 items). The crystal will prevent the effect from occurring and it lasts 30 minutes. Otherwise, bring a friend along.
Does on my elf, oddly.
So with a healing rank of A and a magic attack of 139, I only heal at max 20, So I don't think the 10:1 ratio is still in effect.
How does one calculate efficiency? Also, how did we find out that Healing charges contribute to defense stat in the first place?
...cast heal.. see defense go up... use magic to find out that defense went up and that defense came from healing charges...
As kevin said, its not hidden. You can see your defense go up in the character window when heal is charged.

At r2, each charge of heal heals 33 hp. 33*5=165 total health restored. It takes 32 MP to make those five charges. 165/32=5.15625. Round that up to the nearest tenth and that's 5.2 hp per every 1 mp. Of course, this isn't so accurate anymore because it's now a range instead of a whole number.
Don't forget about the bonus hp from talent. That's probably why you don't think you're taking damage.
Apparently, the game can glitch out and you can have more health than your maximum health.
How does Magic Attack affect it? I mean by what formula?
I will begin investigating this as soon as I have a reliable way to hurt myself without killing myself. Funny how windmill no longer consumes hp at the same time this was implemented so it's harder to test.
Rank 1 healing, no healing wand, no party healing master title.
35 magic attack: 43 hp
39 magic attack: 43 hp
46 magic attack: 44 hp
57 magic attack: 45 hp
I'm guessing it's every 10 magic attack is 1 extra hp per charge, rounded down. And before anyone asks, I have magic attack enchants so that's why I was able to break 49 magic attack.
Yeah it's magic damage, not MP. I already corrected this on the healing and party healing pages. I'd try to figure out how it affects mana shield too but that's way too complicated.
