Description

A beautiful lady stands alone in the wreckage. Though the sun filtering through the rocks cast her in a warm light, a chill runs through your bones as you approach. What is this cold ire in her eyes...?

Scathach is a mysterious figure located at the Scathach Caverns. By night, she is an innocent woman, and by day, she becomes an evil cold witch.

According to Admiral Owen, the witch turns people into Sahagins, although Milletians seem immune to it.

History

Scathach was once a pirate captain. One day, she accosted on the shores of Manannan's land. The god fell in love with her, but she refused him, and told him she would never fall in love with anyone. By breaking this oath by falling in love with Owen, the deity became furious and cursed her to the state she is in.

She deeply resents the deity for having cursed her this way.

Generation 16: Macbeth

She was formerly Shylock's proposed wife. However, on the day of their wedding, Shylock rejected her as he sensed something was amiss when a necklace was given.

Through many implications, it is implied that Scathach is Ascon's only niece, and remaining family. After Videk forced the Marriage of Arranz and Vigorin, they had an only daughter whom Arranz took with her in order to flee from Videk's schemes. Jessica; Shylock's daughter found a necklace that belonged to Arranz, was caught by Vigorin, and was unjustly executed. Vigorin managed to find Arranz as well as his daughter later. He murdered Arranz, and bound the cursed necklace to their only daughter to lure the rich suitors among the Belvast hierarchy for wealth as they all became the Sahagins of the Scathach Beach. In order to cover his tracks from suspicions, he sent his daughter, and the necklace on a rigged ship to her supposed death while he fled Belvast. When mentioning Videk or Vigorin, Scathach scorns the thought of them being alive.

Mainstream Story

Generation 16: Macbeth

She is Admiral Owen's lover. Upon arrival of the deepest part of the Caverns, Owen gives Scathach a hug. Their embrace was interrupted by Odran, who tells Scathach to get her hands off Owen. Odran pull his sword and points it at her, but Owen tells him to sheath it. Odran worries that Owen may have been cursed by Scathach, stating that she should have burned with every single thing that was on the boat that lies before them. Owen then threatens Odran to back off, stating that insulting Scathach once more may result in a consequence. Odran continues to worry about Owen and tells Scathach to back away from Owen or dire consequences will follow. Owen turns to Scathach and apologizes. Scathach accepts the apology and states that there are other matters to tend to.

Odran leaves and Scathach talks to Owen, worrying about Owen's health. Owen remarks that he is fine and says nothing shall hold him back from seeing her, regardless of how brief the meeting is. Owen then talks about how Scathach's condition is responsible for Owen's suffering. Owen thinks of her often and how a single thought of Scathach being alone in the caverns puts him in misery. He then attempt to persuade Scathach into joining his place in Belvast, ensuring that the witch does not bother her, and if necessary, he would go through great lengths to keep the witch contained, to go as far as building a large wall of the strongest materials in Erinn. He would even stay with Scathach if necessary, but she declines and will not let Owen have his way, fearing of what the witch may do to Owen. Scathach even goes as far as to say what if the witch uses her voice against him; Owen bluntly answers that he would gag her, but Scathach then puts Owen a position where what if the witch cries as Scathach; Owen says he would turn his back on the witch, but would be hurt to do such a thing. If it would free Scathach from the darkness, he will do what it takes and accept any pain and burden that comes his way. Scathach calls him a fool and warns that the sun is rising. After noticing the Milletian, she asks Owen to leave as she wishes to speak to the Milletian. Owen asks what is she going to tell them, but replies that it can only be told to a Milletian. Trusting Scathach, Owen leaves.

Scathach asks the Milletian to hold her hand. Shortly after, she turns the witch and pushes the Milletian away from her, then asks how holding her felt. She places her trust in the Milletian for being with Admiral Owen, then asks if they pitied the relationship between Scathach and Owen. She then explains that Scathach is the witch and vice versa; two sides of the same coin. She goes to say that everything Scathach loves about Owen also belongs to the witch. The witch tells the Milletian to tell Owen that they must prepare for war, and must leave at once to deliver the message.

Much later, she hints the Milletian to what Cichol, Morrighan, Bella, and Shakespeare are planning.

Generation 23: Tempest

“	I cherish that which is beautiful. And there is beauty to be found in every part of this world. That which is immutable, that which is ever mutable, creation, destruction, coexistence... Of course, some presences are more beautiful than others. I fell in love with her the moment she set foot here. A pirate captain who parted the very waves with her beauty. Even her name was music. It was a joy to watch her dance on the shore. To see her feast upon the fruit of my land. However... She would not accept my love. She swore to me that she could never love anyone. But she broke that oath. Scathach... My poor, despicable love. How dare she lie to a god. How dare she...! She will not be free of her curse until she has paid the price.But if she burns for revenge, perhaps I can turn my attentions to her again.	„

• In the Irish Mythology, Scáthach was a legendary Scottish warrior and a martial arts teacher.
• Scáthach means shady or shadowy (scáth + ach; shadow + having).
• In the original story of Macbeth, there were three witches, not one. Additionally, none were named.
