[You find Aeira in Dunbarton after receiving her request.]

Buchanan in his study

Aeira

I need your help.
You see, I can't get a hold of Mr. Buchanan,
the famous book dealer.
He was supposed to send me a book.

Aeira

This...belongs to Mr. Buchanan? Why, it's a list of books he borrowed!
Let's see... Partholon? That's a difficult book to get through.
What could he possibly have been researching?

  • Continue

Wait! I got it. The Tara Royal Library!
If Mr. Buchanan was reading books like Partholon,
he must've visited the Royal Library at least once.

  • Continue

The librarian there... Oh, what was her name?
I recall that she writes poetry...
Anyway, find her and ask if she knows anything
about where Mr. Buchanan went!

Talk to Arzhela in the Rath Castle Royal Library

[You head to the Royal Library in Rath Royal Castle, as directed by Aeira.]

Arzhela

You've come in search of Buchanan, have you?
You say Aeira sent you? I've heard of her.
She runs a small bookstore in Dunbarton, correct?
Library patrons have spoken of her.

  • Continue

Still, Buchanan is a dear friend of mine,
and I do not know your intentions.
Prove to me that you come in good faith.

  • Continue

Take this Monocle
and head for the Royal Castle Shadow Realm.
Many ancient tomes can be found there.
Donate any of them to the Royal Library.

  • Continue

In exchange, I will reward you with the information you seek.
Now, if you lose this Monocle, you can purchase more from me.
I trust you know you can enter the Royal Castle Shadow Realm
from the altar in Tara, yes?

[You wear the Monocle given to you by Arzhela and head to the Stonehenge in Tara. Upon selecting a mission and entering the Shadow Realm, you clear the rooms containing enemies within the Royal Castle in the Shadow Realm. You happen to come upon Ancient Books as you do so. Once you complete you mission, you return to Arzhela.]

Arzhela

CharacterName, you have proven that you've come in good faith.
So please, take this. It's Buchanan's Royal Library Card.
It lists all the books Buchanan has ever borrowed.
I held onto it for him as a friend.

  • Continue

Take this card and use it to enter the Royal Castle Shadow Realm
from the altar in Tara. Buchanan was there investigating something.
He ought to be there still.

Onscreen Message: Cichol: It's been a long time...

[You decide to speak with Cichol.]

Cichol

Do not be alarmed. I have not come to oppose you.
I have come to warn you of an impending disaster.
I fear the Caliburn has merged with Courcle's Heart,
which can only lead to disaster. If only I'd seen that earlier!

  • Continue

You see, the Caliburn, created by Aton Cimeni, forged this world...
It is also the key to the complete destruction of it!
When we stole the Caliburn from the humans,
we wanted it's power for our own purpose,
but we had no intention of destroying the world...

  • Continue

But now, it may be too late. The path of the Caliburn has been set.
In the end, the Caliburn will drain not just the blood
of Milletians, but the blood of Fomors and Gods as well!
Do you recall the ancient race that once prospered, the Parthalonians?

  • Continue

Parthalonians being wiped out by the plague

They were utterly wiped out in a single day
by a plague spread by the Caliburn.

The Parthalonians' remains

And now, history is about to repeat itself,
in the very land where the Parthalonian's corpses still lay.
Do not forget, one who has received the power of Gods
also has an obligation to fight for the world...

Talk To Arzhela

[You leave the Shadow Realm and return to Arzhela, informing her about your encounter with Cichol.]

Arzhela

To be honest, I'm not sure where I left his card...

As you're no doubt aware, the Shadow Realm that started
in Taillteann has spread to the Rath Royal Castle.

the Aliech Kingdom, including the Fomors,

Arat Alchemists in the Shadow Realm

  • Continue

A ghost of Partholon observed within the Shadow Realm

Last, but certainly not least, are the Ghosts of Partholon.
It has not been confirmed whether they are actually related
to the ancient Parthalonians. I suspect not.
But they are nonetheless a threat.

  • Continue

We must investigate and find out the truth behind all of this!
But Alchemists talented enough to venture into the Shadow Realm
are in short supply. You must find Cai! He recently resigned his position
as Royal Alchemist. Take his Alchemist Medal.
You must convince him to return to the Royal Alchemists!

Deliver the Alchemist Medal to Cai

[By Sinead's request, you take Cai's medal and enter the Shadow Realm Rath Royal Castle. You then begin to clear the castle of Fomor enemies as you look for Cai. Eventually, you hear a message from Cai.]

Onscreen Message: Cai: I'll be waiting for you in the room at the eastern corner.

[You follow Cai's message and eventually find him in the room he indicated in his message.]

Cai

I see you have my old Alchemist Medal,
which means Sinead must've sent you.
I don't know what she told you, but I have no plans
to become a Royal Alchemist again for a while...

  • Continue

You see, I am partially to blame for the threat
Erinn's currently facing...

  • Continue

Anyway, I'll take the medal, since you brought it all this way,
but I can't promise anything. First, I must return the Caliburn
to the Royal Castle. Of course, I can't do that alone.
I need Leymore's help. Can you ask him for me?

  • OK

Cai

Someday, I'll return the favor you've done for me today.
I have a feeling that I'll be seeing you again very soon.

  • End Conversation

Talk to Sinead

[You return to Sinead with news.]

Sinead

I am well aware of Leymore's activities.
Managing the Royal Alchemists is one of my many responsibilities.

Come to think of it, I haven't heard from him in a while...

I almost didn't recognize you...

  • Continue

I haven't heard from Cai recenty, but it's just like him
to concoct some wild plan all by himself.
Of course, I'll help. Not just as a Royal Alchemist,
but as his friend. You don't even have to ask.

  • Continue

...

  • Continue

Hm, getting rusty, CharacterName?
I do believe you were followed.

  • OK

[You and Leymore find yourselves surrounded by enemies.]

Onscreen Message: Shadow Warrior: I've finally got you, Alchemist. You won't escape me this time.

[You defeat the enemies together with Leymore.]

Leymore

I'm sorry, I'm a little distracted.
Jenna...is not with me right now.
She left this letter...

  • Continue

There are so many things I wish to speak to her about!
But I guess I'll just have to wait...
I'm sorry, I'm babbling. I apologize.

Read Jenna's Letter

[You leave the Shadow Realm and take a look at the letter from Jenna that Leymore gave to you.]

You must think it strange that a young girl like me

It's called, "The Parthalonian Prince."

Briana must've told you where I'd be.
Though I guess it wouldn't have been hard to guess
I'd be in Tir Chonaill searching for ancient books anyway.

  • Continue

It's like searching for needles in a haystack!
It's so hard to hunt down remnants of the Parthalonians
after so much time has passed.

  • Continue

While staying at Piaras's Inn, I've met others
also researching the Parthalonians.
No one seems to be having much luck.

  • Continue

I have found a few books, though. The Parthalonians seem
to believe that the Caliburn is not a fixed substance,
but rather a living being that continuously changes form!

  • Continue

The Brionac, the holy sword!
That's the final evolved form of the Caliburn!
The books spend pages and pages talking about it.

  • Continue

The Parthalonians' magic to handle the Caliburn

It also seems that the Parthalonians used special magic
to handle the Brionac, but that magic is now lost.
I think that magic is the key to understanding the Parthalonians.

  • Continue

I need to return to Tara now.
I think I'm finally getting the answers I need.

  • OK

Talk to Briana

[You leave Ciar Dungeon and return to Briana.]

Briana

Buchanon[sic] told you about Partholon's Brionac?
Imagine that! The Brionac, the Holy Sword!
That's also the sword the[sic] Lugh, the Knight of Light, used in battle.

  • Continue

Some say Lugh's Brionac was just named after
the Parthalonian Brionac of legend
and doesn't really have any magical powers, but who knows?

  • Continue

The Book of Partholon

I finally found a lead. We need to get the Book of Partholon.
It contains everything we need to know about their ancient magic.
I've tracked the book down to the armory in the Shadow Realm.
I tried to grab it myself, but the Fomors got in my way.

Here's what you need to know. To get to the book,
you have to pass through a restaurant which hides a secret device.
The mechanism that opens the door only works
when the orbs are touched in a certain order.
I was able to discover that order...

  • Continue

Buchanan's map

Take a look at this map, and follow the instructions.
If you make a mistake and touch the orbs out of order,
you'll be in a lot of trouble...
I risked my neck 24 times to get this info, so I know it's correct!

  • OK

Talk to Sinead

[Having received the news from Buchanan, you report the details to Sinead.]

Sinead

Regrdless of what else happened,

You use the information from the map that Buchanan gave to you to hit the switches in the correct order. You then proceed to clear the remaining rooms before heading to the Armory.]

Cai

Even Chicol[sic], the King of the Fomors, warned of the devastation that Erinn could face.
This danger applies to Human and Fomor alike!

  • Continue

Mata

Silence!
Cichol is no longer our king.

Mata
