The Milletian discovers a necklace that allows them to see a memory of the Elder in battle with heretics who oppose Aton Cimeni.
The Elder is shown through these memories to aim to protect Avalon Gate by dividing shards of a charm among his four trusted generals, then sealing each one of them. The other present day Alban Knights discover that they cannot use the necklace, leading Talvish to believe that fate led the Milletian to discover the necklace. On the final memory of the last shard, the necklace abruptly shatters.
Through the memories, the Alban Knights learn that the Prophets, the present day Fomor heretics, intend to breach Avalon Gate and weaponize the Elder's body into an all-powerful Apostle. Using the memories, the Knights track down each of the shards, but the Prophets beat them to every end and successfully breach the gate, which closes before the Knights can give chase.

Llywelyn gives the Milletian a greatsword hilt, which serves as a medium to directly communicate with the Elder through time. The Elder provides hints and helps the Alban Knights breach the Avalon Gate and chase the Prophets into Avalon.
The Elder later wishes to see the future the Knights of the past had laid out. He is disappointed that no one worships Aton Cimeni but is pleased that the Churches of Lymilark are still present, and notes that the Milletian is hailed as a hero.
As the race to the Elder's tomb comes to a close, everyone is shocked that the coffin is empty. Cichol arrives to banish the Prophets, but Talvish reveals an overwhelming power that forces Cichol to retreat. Everyone is left bewildered and confused until Merlin arrives, who immediately recognizes Talvish as the Elder, his old mentor. Talvish does not deny this, welcoming Merlin and the Milletian as "his old friend", revealing that he staged everything in a plan to use the Milletian as a medium to summon another otherworldly entity to defend Erinn. Labeling himself as Aton Cimeni's first sword, Talvish reveals a divine form and claims all his actions are under Aton Cimeni's will.
