Elf Guard PD

Wait, rank 1 means it has lv3 pd, does it have rank 1 or lv1?--Hengsheng120 21:56, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

the skill's level is 15, which means the rank is 1, which means that by the standards people have come up with for classifying PD, the PD's level is 3--Sozen Cratos Focker 23:25, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
You mean level 3, rank 1 = lvl 3 pd. see Heavy Stander Page for example.--Hengsheng120 00:16, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
PD lvl3*. sorry, typo, i wrote that wile i was in the corner of a room in ciar adv.--Sozen Cratos Focker 01:01, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Intuition Question

So if this is a passive skill that most monsters have...what rank is a Gorgon's at? That seems to be the highest rank....but is it? BladeBlade 12:09, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Magic shields

Thanks, Sozen :P I formulated an experiment that is outlined here--Demaetri 21:28, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Weapon Table

I've tried a few different ideas myself but wasn't really happy with them. If any of these examples have something you can use then by all means do so. --ZRoc (Talk) 10:12, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

ToC and Image Gallery

Have a look at this example. I've left a message on the wiki Q&A as well. --ZRoc (Talk) 11:48, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Giant Field Boss

Hi. I reverted your revision to Category:Giant Field Boss for a couple reasons. Limited spawn time isn't a unique feature of the Giant Field Bosses, as it is common to all Field Bosses, and I feel like the page adequately conveys the idea that Giant Field Bosses are a subset of these and thus would share this type of characteristic with them. Furthermore, it is already made reference to at Category:Field Boss. Regarding Adv. Heavy Stander, it's in standard use on this wiki so I don't see the need to replace it with an explanation and no reference. It's not like someone can't click the link if they don't understand. --Inemnitable 06:36, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Server Status

Haha,
Thanks for noticing. I plum forgot that the "Website" even had a status image for it.

Re: page protection request(s)/suggestion(s )

You're right, there is a lot of potential for disaster with the Lag page, but right now I think it's better to leave it unprotected because that would block out its primary editors. If/when it does get vandalized then it'll be protected. Or maybe when Hengsheng decides he is completely done with it.

As for the in-game books, is it really worth all that effort? Most of the books already have the mabibook link so people can just go to that to see the official nexon typos. --- Angevon (Talk) 18:32, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Monster Tables, your opinion?

I'm trying out several possible new templates for the normal monsters.

They are based on the Shadow mission monsters template.

Since you seem to be in touch with more of the mabi community than I am, can you ask around to get opinions? Both on the new template and on whether the sections should be opened or closed? -- ladywinter ~{talk page}~ 14:14, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Raincasting

How can the weather have absolutely nothing to do with the training if ranks F to C require you to cast rain in either clear or rainy weather? Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄ƷCosmicƸ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ a L k 09:22, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Your name

Hi, this might be a little odd, but for ages I've always seen your name on the recent changes list and assumed it said "Frozen Satros Cracker" in my mind. I only just took the time to read it properly. IHarryl 09:35, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Noble sword

Here is where I got the data on the noble sword. Mind you this is an older screenshot, but the info holds true still, I'm pretty sure. Retalia 18:49, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Taming Rate

You asked how many trials I did on taming rate given the animal is just tamable, 1/2 way to die, and weaken to almost deadly. I did 100+ on each case x 3 types of animals (normal, strong, awful).

So I am sure HP level does not count towards taming success probability, it is just a condition to allow taming to be applied. --Sillydude 17:56, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Shooting Rush/Bullet Storm Hitbox Reversion

This line is unnecessary; It's true for pretty much everything that isn't a melee hit.

—Sozen

Incorrect. I can shoot Giant Spiders from the other side of a dungeon room with Bullet Slide and Grapple Shot (though GS gives me the "too close" message).

Also, Assault Slash and all Puppetry Act Skills except for 2 are "melee hits" that aim for the target's hitbox's center.

Infodude575 (talk)15:16, 3 September 2013

I meant anything that's a long range attack.

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)16:34, 3 September 2013

Bullet Storm and Grapple Shot are "long range attacks", no?

Infodude575 (talk)16:40, 3 September 2013

Their Hits and Dmg are Ranged category, yes, which makes it unusual that they use the Melee attack distance system(though makes sense since they're designed to manipulate distance). Anyway, these are the exception not the rule, so it would make more sense to note the abnormality of slide and grapple shot on their pages than to note the normality of every other ranged and magic skill on their pages.

meters vs centimeters

Yeah, that's something I was also wondering about...

If you take, for example, reforges, there are only 4 reforges that affect a skills "cm" range. Every other range boost reforge is labeled as "m". But, by the looks of it, all range reforges are about the same reasonable size.

Say, Effective Range reforge. It has a reforge "distance" of 70. But, we all know that the reforge affects the bow like normal. A 70 distance increase is 2070 distance total (if the bow is base 2000). But the units Effective Range is measured in is "m", not "cm".

Another example, Charge.

It has a maximum distance of 2000 at rank 1.

The reforge boosts its distance by 50 "distance" per level.

The reforge unit is labeled as meters, totaling to 2050m at a reforge of level 1.

In fact, I'm quite definite now that all skill ranges/etc are measured in meters. Out of the 4 cm values, 2 of them are seemingly unused, and the other 2 have to do with Fishing's catch size. Nothing else is measured in cm.

Well, since Puppeteer skill descriptions mark distance in units of m that are exactly equal to 100 of the base unit we've just been calling "Distance".

Could you list your 4 the examples of CM being used? I know there were several, but i only remember what one of the fishing ones was, and I don't recall weather partner height explicated cm.

o3o. They were all reforge examples (of the 4 cm examples being used).

As for the skill descriptions.... hm.

Hm, does the fish size actually have any effect as to how it appears when dropped?

Also, if I remember correctly, the hints for some of the Puppetry skills actually say meters? I can't check because I mastered all 11 of them months back.

Infodude575 (talk)13:56, 13 August 2013

Well, the fish's size stat does effect how big it shows up on the ground, but it's not a reliable reference for distance since it's not always a straightforward head to tail measurement. Within the same species, math works(101cm>100cm), but a 150cm of one species can be less than a 140cm of another.

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)14:11, 13 August 2013

Yes, the size is affected, but the sizes is scaled by a multiplier. How the multiplier is determined is unknown at the moment, though that can probably be easily figured out.

None of the puppetry skills (that I have, Ctrl, Marionettes, Act 1-6) mention anything about distance. All mentions are in the rank effect, which you should still see.

Ah, I thought it was in the hint. I think some skills have meters in hints too, but I don't remember.

Infodude575 (talk)14:19, 13 August 2013

I just checked, and partner creation does explicitly say cm for height, and unlike fish size, this one seems to match the "distance" unit we've been using.

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)14:24, 13 August 2013

Yes, but like how fish size affects the dropped fish, height is scaled by a multiplier, also, if that has any effect.

yea, but this multiplier seems to be pretty close to 1, possibly even 1.

I had my commerce partner(height fixed at 130) load thunder so she'd stand still, then loaded grapple shot and found the inner and outer edges of it's range(by checking when the cursor changes). The min distance was about 3x her height, and the max distance was a between 7x and 8x her height.

Seems legit to me.

Some more things that might be relevant:

  • Paper Airplane says ##.##m at the end. IDK if it's the same "m" as puppeteer skills, but it's definitely not the 1m = 1 "distance" one.
  • An older example, Fireworks Kit, has a distance label at the end of the animation. I'm having trouble confirming, but IIRC it uses "m" about the same way as Paper Airplane.
  • As far as i know, the first reliable(not not 5th dimensions of fish) example of distance numbers being displayed ingame was the splash range upgrade for Two-handed Sword. It's 70 "distance", and the text says 70 but doesn't specify m or cm.
Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)16:12, 13 August 2013

Oh right, that's where I've seen the distance actually shown before. Paper Airplane. zzz.

And, yes, fireworks did use meters, also.

As for two handed splash upgrade... 70 distance (which I would assume would be the same distance as lv 1 effective range reforge) would seem like a lot of splash area. I've never personally upgraded a 2h with that upgrade, so I have no idea what it's like.

Yes, it is quite a lot. There are some youtube links demonstrating it here.

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)17:52, 13 August 2013

Holy fuck. I need to get me one of those.

Same. Been planning to get one ever since that was posted but never got around to it. The basic 2h is best for range since it has range available for 3 upgrades(last 2 + gem), but one of the Japanese 2h swords can get more dmg on splash than the main target if you forgo the range upgrades.

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)18:02, 13 August 2013

So, outside of reforges, is there any example of 1m meaning 1distance?

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)07:58, 24 August 2013

Hahaha, how nice of you to bring this back up.

So it turns out, although reforges use meters... I forgot they're divided by 100 (I had no range reforges at the time). So 1000 meters is actually 10.00 meters. :)

Guess we're using cm as base. Going to have to changeeeee it allllll. Unless.. you guys actually want to keep it in cm (2000cm vs 20m).

Most people are more familiar with cm as range, though.

It's clear they're going for a clone of the metric system, so I say we just decide case-by-case based on significant digits.

What file are you getting reforge info from anyway?

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)14:31, 24 August 2013

Dual Guns hitting Flight?

Are you sure? Because I could only hit Blinkers with those three skills. And I can't see how Flash Launcher would hit them.

Infodude575 (talk)11:22, 19 August 2013

Changing those other lines was unintentional. It might have had something to do with the fact that i was browsing the page's history when I clicked edit.

Data + Spirit Items

There's no point in using a transclusion for your table...

Save yourself the time and trouble; just use a simple template.
