Talk:Dragon (Family)

From Mabinogi World Wiki

I think we should include Cromm Cruaich as a dragon, under mainstream bosses category, because i think that the red dragon is also a G8 mainstream boss. (final boss). Also, isn't tail attack actually Windmill? -- Fruitrecruit

Red Dragon is a field boss. Tail Attack is like windmill but isn't, afaik. I don't mind if Cromm gets put here. ---Angevon
The G8 final boss Red Dragon is actually weaker than the field boss variety Red Dragon, with only approximately 50000 HP, though it shares many of the same attacks. Also, doesn't Cromm use Tail Attack and not Windmill? Having fought Cromm again yesterday, I recall several instances where it just spins around and whacks you with its tail with no skill bubble present. --Naiya 20:16, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Isn't the so called "Tail Attack" just a normal strike? I mean, we don't call Ogres' "Fist Attack" or anything. How else would a dragon attack, if it used its wings, some odd people would call it "Wing Attack". --Zephyre 8:00, 3 March 2009 (PST)

Added some advice on Prairie Dragon. slayer1o1 21:46, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

One thing I've noticed with Red Dragon is when I've attacked it with my Dragon Blade, it seems to randomally pop up text saying "You have striked in the mouth of the Dragon, and it deals more damage" or along those lines with the mouth and chest. I'm just wondering if people have seen this as well with other weapons.--DarkWyvern 18:43, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

I haven't fought a red dragon yet, but if recall correctly from the nexon guide, it depends on if the dragon is about to attack using a certain part. Bidica 19:33, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Attack Pattern

  • When a dragon spawns, its spawn location is noted as Position A. The dragon will do all attacks from Position A, except for Stone Breath.
  • When the Dragon aggros a player, the dragon will then use Dragon Dash Attack in the direction of the player it aggro'd. The position where it stops its Dragon Dash Attack is noted as Position B. The dragon will always return to Position A via Dragon Dash Attack, meaning Position A is fixed.
  • Since Position B is dependant on the aggro'd player, Position B is not fixed.
  • At Position B, the dragon will:
A. Dragon Dash Attack back to Postion A or
B. Use Stone Breath, then Dash back to Position A
  • All of its other attacks will be done at Position A.
This may be specific only to the Korean servers, further testing might be required. Just thought I'd throw this in here as a basic understanding of the AI. --Zephyre 22:27, 20 March 2009 (EST)
I noticed this but never actually realized it was an AI. Good job I back this up with maybe a few minor changes after I battle another. Should we add this to the page? slayer1o1 21:44, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
is the distance they dash always the same? or does it depend on how close the person was?Sozen Cratos Focker 13:35, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

I did some Dragon Hunting, and suprisingly, I got one in the morning (I was alone). The distance usually seemed the same (A little shorter than the range of an Ego LLB), except sometimes it would still hit when I wasn't in range with my bow. I'm guessing this had something to do with lag on my part and that the distance of travel for the Dragon is somewhere close to 20m (Or 2000cm). Also, the dragon flew away at around half health (>___>;;) --Zephyre17:54, 12 April 1009 (EST)

uh, exactly how long is a cm in pixels in Mabi? lol
I believe the distance of rush had to do with the distance of the character and if you run away or not. And how could you get an estimate on the distance? i always wanted to figure that out. And i think it flies away after a certain amount of time, not when its hp is at about half. I could be wrong, however, all field bosses disappear after a certain time so i think its more of a time issue.slayer1o1 01:34, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
I think Zephyre meant that he had hit it down to half HP by the time it flew away. ---Angevon
Then does zephyre have any idea how long the dragon was there? i never though of to keep track of it... and now that i think of it, i fought a dragon once that flew away when its hp was about half, but it just moved, then flew away a little later. slayer1o1 01:55, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Zephyre knows that the dragon was there about 1 and a half game days. Also, 1800cm is the distance of a Long Bow or Leather Long Bow. Annnd, one more thing. Since dragons don't have a knock-back animation, is it possible for them to go into "Deadly" status? --Zephyre 00:00, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Prairie dragon was around for like 1.5 game days it seemed like. i do not think they have a deadly status, and if they did there are so many people pounding the life out of them it wouldnt make much of a difference anyway.

Speed

I though about this, and dragons only use their assult attack to move, so basicly they cant run on their own...so speed= none? (coment)! Wuberfeca

Neid

Neid orginate from [Loch Ness Monster]. I think it isn't dragon. --Juff 23:49, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Desert Dragon & Giant Sandworm Appearance

Its appearance is in sync with the Giant Sand Worms.

This sentence from the notes for the Desert Dragon confuses me. Does it mean its physical appearance or spawn appearance? --Aramet (Talk) 02:31, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Sand Worm spawns near the time Desert Dragon spawns (though not exactly) and around the same day as Prairie dragon (which spawns b4).--Hengsheng120(talkcontribs) 04:39, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Desert Dragon Spawn Time

I've noticed the Desert Dragon appears for about 24 in-game hours (36 minutes real time). Can anyone else confirm this before I add it to the Desert Dragon's template? --Aramet (Talk) 17:06, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Something I noticed during the Crumena boss fight

Okay, so, when I went to do the Crumena boss for g8, one thing i noticed is that if you walk onto the bridge while he does one of his skills, said skill is canceled. However, I have not tried that after dash attack--Dtdsora- no page as of yet- u can make it urself 21:14, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Prairie and Desert dragon stomps?

I have never seen them use stomp, but the flight page mentions it has flying as part of its stomp animation, but it's not flying. Do they have stomp, but just never use it?

Meru (talk)07:54, 22 October 2013

Prairie Dragon doesn't have it, but Desert does. I've seen it fly and stomp the ground, much like a gargoyle or the dragon pets.

Infodude575 (talk)10:10, 22 October 2013

Are you sure it wasn't lag or something? I fight all dragons pretty much every single day since raids came out and never seen it.

Meru (talk)13:34, 22 October 2013

No lag. I fought it a long time ago, so they probably tweaked it (which I doubt).

Infodude575 (talk)14:59, 22 October 2013

White Dragon Trampling

I fought White Dragon in G18 and it stepped on me, but in the Raid it doesn't do that?

Infodude575 (talk)16:32, 19 July 2013

Black Dragon HP

According to Mabidata, it has 10 million, not 5. Where'd the 5 come from?

Infodude575 (talk)11:07, 2 July 2013

Majority of Mobs got bumped to 5m...soo yeah.

まそっぷ ! (talk)11:53, 2 July 2013

500k, not 5m. At most, Desert and Red Dragons got bumped to 1m but that's it, no more higher.

Infodude575 (talk)12:10, 2 July 2013

The 5 million came from my very illegitimate methods.

Wait, I thought you could only read their skill ranks?

Infodude575 (talk)14:51, 2 July 2013

That's a very different illegitimate method called "reading xmls".

Oh lol...pfft. Illegitimate...such an ugly word :C I prefer "other means" lol

まそっぷ ! (talk)15:57, 2 July 2013

Go check how much Yeti's HP got upped to then.

Infodude575 (talk)18:38, 2 July 2013

Doesn't White Dragon have 2m HP, not 1?

Infodude575 (talk)19:15, 17 July 2013

Black/White Dragon NPC

Shouldn't they have one? I mean, Black Dragon has an image and I'm certain White will have one too.

Infodude575 (talk)16:49, 6 July 2013

Yes, they both deserve their own NPC page moreso than their own monster page.

Pyro - (Talk)18:33, 6 July 2013

Red dragon raid item

So, I did the red dragon raid, and I got this Violent enchanted short sword. Would this go under red dragons drops or should there be like a red dragon raid page? Also, the current raid pages suggest only the black dragon uses the new raid system, at least to me it does.

Meru (talk)20:53, 28 June 2013

Red Dragon's a raid boss now, since it spawns daily and gives quests when you go near it.

As for the item, it goes in the Raid page; the monster itself no longer drops anything, but rather its "drops" get sent directly to your inventory.

Infodude575 (talk)11:06, 2 July 2013

This page needs a major update

With the addition of two new dragon mobs and the new field boss system this page needs a revamp, is there a template we can put ontop of the page to state that?

We have to edit things that recommend using pets for tactics because that can be used no longer, ect. ect. Also will we need a seperate page for the army;s mobs, like the Korsek Raptors?

MasterGiegue (talk)09:54, 27 June 2013

Patience. It just got released.

Infodude575 (talk)11:07, 27 June 2013

"Outdated", and "Under Construction".

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)13:52, 27 June 2013

Please tell me the field bosses got nerfed in the update. If Black hits 100 x 3 with Fire Breath, then it makes no sense for Prairie and Desert to hit 1k and Red to hit 10k.

Infodude575 (talk)01:31, 28 June 2013

Their HP got buffed, I believe, but I don't think there was any other changes to existing field bosses.

Pyro - (Talk)09:09, 28 June 2013

No change to EXP?

Infodude575 (talk)09:51, 28 June 2013

I think the EXP had an increase but shared equally between all participating battlers, with the player who contributed most receiving a bonus, atleast thats what i;ve read

MasterGiegue (talk)10:15, 28 June 2013

Crumena Strategy?

I'm not sure about this, as I never end up doing the G8 final with a Giant, haven't gotten to that point on mine, yet, can't Giants make craters to avoid Rain of Lightning? If so shouldn't it be added to the strategies?

Nadindel17:28, 18 July 2011

This might sound like a strange question, but are any of these dragons sketch-able?

Pyro - (Talk)01:10, 23 June 2011

Running Speed?

Dragons only get around by Dragon Dash Attack, not by running around. Won't it make the Running Speed somewhat obsolete?
